Need advice ASAP

SWIM has a random hair drug test coming up within the next week.

He is not a drug abuser but was an idiot one night and did ONE line of coke.

Nothing has been taken before or after (within 2 years)

The drug test will test up to 90 days or 3 months.

SWIM added up the dates and they are 103 days between.

Should he be worried????

Need the advice immediately.

Hair is currently about 3" long.

It it was a line 103 days ago, and nothing has been taken since, Getting the hair cut good and short will work. cocaine metabolites dont stay in the body for very long, so it will only be a tiny portion of hair in which the metabolites can be detected.

Since the hair always grows, the hair segment in which the metabolites are in will have moved out from the scalp relative to the hair futher down the hair. If it is cut off below this imaginary section, it shouldn't be detected.

The average rate of growth is a mere one-half of an inch per month. So just over 3months=(to be safe) 1 1/2 inches of hair below the danger zone, a good cut to approx 3/4" all over should be good, but if SWIyour really worried, get it to 1/2". Remember, other hair, pubic and underarm, can be tested too, so if you get a short cut when you had long hair, alarm bells might ring and they could take from an area which is sore to get hair removed from, so cover all bases!

You are suggesting that SWIM cuts his / her hair below the 1.5" growth mark? Would that not deem the test insufficient, therefore hair from the body being used?

SWIM has just phoned the confidential advisor at the drug screening lab and was told it is a case of borderline, and up to SWIM to decide if it is worth the risk or not.

Although I don't have personal experience, I think it depends on a few things here, as to whether its worth the risk of cutting your hair or not:

What kind of test is it?

How much do you want/need to keep your job?

If, as seems to be inferred, it is a hair test, and by the fact SWIFish has come onto these forums specifically to discuss this, the job wants/needs to be kept, then the following post by BA may be useful and some may say it prudent to follow its advice (the words false positives hair and cocaine have been highlighted for the readers convenience).
