Drug testing.....
afoaf tested positive for benzos and has been clean and sober for 5 years. What could cause a false positive for benzos? He is having another test done...gc/ms....will that identify another substance???

This really belongs in the Drug Testing subboard of The Europhic Body (http://www.drugs-forum.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=71), but I'll try and help anyhow.
Is the FOAF on any legitimately prescribed medication, and has he/she declared this to those administering the test? Several antidepressants and antipsychotics have been reported to give false positives by immunoassay. GC/MS is much more definitive and also more sensitive than the standard assays so that should allow the testing body to clarify what the chemical responsible for the positive was. Be aware that it may also reveal the presence of any other illicit substances that the first test missed.
