Music Making your own music

Does anyone else here make music, whether it be via a band, being a DJ, etc?

SWIM loves making hiphop beats while high, he can sometimes make some of
the personal introspective music. Every little detail is sometimes only something he can understand.

yeah... depending on what and how much i smoke. just means ur having a good high. id smoke before school and my first class was a band class and id rock out like hell..

ive been writing music since i was a little kid, and writing music while high is a pretty standard routine. i like to pick up my guitar and just start playin what comes to mind, the good stuff i write down and try to make into a song. ive come up with some good ones. another thing that can be fun and leed to some good things is to listen to a song and then wait a half an hour, try to remember it and write downhow it goes. usually its completely different, andyou're let with a song of your own.

I'm ALWAYS stoned at band practices. In my opinion drugs increase my creativity; I can improvise "face-melting" solos, while high. But I screw up on simple things that I learned.

i dont mind writing tracks when i coming down of some good MDx or mushrooms, especially if i have been out all night. The music gets stuck in your head and twisted giving you infinate ideas for melodies, baslines etc.After smoking weed tho i have no rhythm and theres no way i can operate a computer or evenread on psychedelics.

Weed is a great drug for music. If youre in the right mood and with the right people. Who are also in the mood for making music. Then its a great tool. But if you dont really feel like making music when you smoke, then you wont get anything done.

I have idea to find people in this community, which wants to make music together. Basicly one possibility is exchange sounds via ftp (audio samples, presets, banks) and making tracks separetelly with your own and exchanged/shared sounds with other peoples. Find people with opened minds and what doesn't have fear about their creation as I am I think.

When do you have some good treks, you want to listen feedback, you find other listeners for it, so why don't make trek together, try it and make next sense to this generation. exchange samples between peoples and make some psytrance.. anyone has good own samples, anyone has good inspiration, how to arranged your tunes in trek/s/.. any1 has both.. just can know more, learn more, find friends..

love to play guitar, especially mellow things like shine on you crazy
diamond and SRV. You can definatly get into what you are playing
much easier. Its always fun just sitting around and playing with
effects as well.

SWIM routinely writes music under the influence of cannabis (he plays
guitar). Mushrooms are good for reflecting upon for influence during
songwriting. SWIM has never tried recording while high, though, maybe
he should. He also plays jazz piano and its so much more fun stoned.

but swim can only use some simple program to store it like Fruity Loops since he is unable to work w noobs,tweaks etc in progs like reason or cubase whilst listening to the wisper of gods

Ive found that on psycadelics, the funnest thing to do is just
improvise solos. Ive never really written my work down or
recorded it, but just hitting that perfect note feels great. I
think of it as music coming from the subconcious mind personally.
But while drunk, i find that high energy things like acdc, skynard,
free, stuff like that is fun. Sounds worse in my opinion though,
but is definatly entertaining.

some of swims favorite music was recorded while high on some thing or another. fact. drugs = creativity...if nothing else, they increase it a helluva lot if you dont have much.

Does anyone on here like to make their own hip hop music? My friends and I always have freestyle battles, kinda like on that MTV show. I want to start making my own music, tracks and shit. What are some good ways to make tracks, since I can't afford like $3000 equipment. I live in Texas, so I think I could make some Mike Jones type shit easily. My favorite rappers are Bone Thugz, MF Doom, Gang Starr and Notorious BIG.

My friend is into making rap music at home. He isolated his room to reduce background noise, and records and writes lyrics often. We have yet to make a collaboration together though, because of different musical styles.

What you'll need is a microphone, a mixing table (unless you know someone who has one), and a good sound card for the computer. It won't cost you too much, especially if you can find used stuff.

Try downloading your programs, since they can cost upwards of 1000$ just for software. Q-base for example is one of the best, but most difficult to learn and use.

Well let me add that SWIY has a good voice! How long has the band been together/playing for? I definately look forward to hearing some psychedelic stuff if that is in the plan?

Glad ya liked it! SWIM has been in the band for almost 2 years, but the other 4 guys had been playing many years together I think. SWIM has lots of alternative/psychedelic ideas, but they wont fit in the band at all. Someday when SWIM can afford it, he will go into the studio and record them. Gotta find some other guys for that though, the people in the band plays only this punk-type of music with extreme tunnel-vision^^

Allright so SWIM knows that there are some musicians in the forum. Its SWIM's favorite thing to do in the world, play music that is. SWIM plays the bass, and has only really played while stoned (music tends to be more atmosphere-y) and drunk(not exactly the best for technicallity and doesnt work out too well) SWIM was wondering was other people have done and played music to. How do the different effect your style of playing. SWIM loves music and thinks that the best way to play is sober for easyness and creativity but SWIM would love to experience other effects that are positive concerning music creating. SWIM needs to get in a band soon too. Keep on rockin' musicians!
