10 days w/o stimulants but still such a junkie
SWIM is ten days clean off stimulants, which SWIM has taken for 15 years at high doses for "ADHD"....This was after SWIM used crystal for 7 years, then went to a psychiatrist who said SWIM was self-medicating ADHD by using crystal, and that SWIM should use pharmaceutical speed (Adderral, Dexies, Ritalin, etc.etc.) instead of crystal. Good thinking? For a while. Then SWIM used crystal AND his ADHD meds......yum!! So SWIM is totally burnt out, as one can imagine. No SWIM is ten days off the stims (YEAH!!!) but still such a junkie....SWIM talked the pharmacist into selling him some PROVIGAL so SWIM can stay awake. But, in the end, when those are gone (15 of them) then SWIM will just have to face the music and stay off of stimulants, whether SWIM likes it or not. SWIM has become somewhat psychotic, so NO MORE STIMULANTS FOR SWIM!!! EVER!!!

Re: 10 days w/o stimulants but still such a junkie
SWIY is thinking the right way. Ten days is not a very long time a after taking amphetamines for such a long time. What difference is there between taking pharmaceutical speed or street speed except purity? The side effects are the same. Doctors have some wrong-headed ideas sometimes. ADHD is a 'condition' which many believe is an invention.
After many years or very intense use users tend to become more psychotic more quickly and there is no choice but to stop. Don't expect not to crave stimulants but do stop! |

Re: 10 days w/o stimulants but still such a junkie
My hamster agrees with enquirewithin that SWIY has the right frame of mind. When one has abused stimulants (pharmaceutical, or street, including meth) for such a length of time, it is to be expected that one would be burnt out pretty bad! My hamster says that modafinil (Provigil) helped him tremendously when he had to face the task of quitting speed. But like SWIY, he ran out at one point and had to come face to face with his addiction.
As SWIY mentioned, "face the music", and be strong. Things will definitely reach a point where they will be easier. It will come gradually, but rest assured that it will come. My hamster wishes you luck and is sending you positive thoughts. Best of luck to SWIY! DecoyPencil |
