MMD (My Mate Dave), would like to share with you based on his experience of 10 years of addictions, and now 10 years of being clean.
Please, take heed or don't, this is just HIS take on it and he certainly understands that this will not apply to all....
So, your sick of being sick, sick of the whole lifestyle, you've hit 'rock bottom', (more about 'rock bottom' later in another thread).... You want to be clean!!
This is what you have to leave behind for any chance of lasting success:
(PS - this is HARD to accept..)
FRIENDS, how many people have you seen in the last month, and class as a friend, whom has not had anything to do with your addiction, (family excluded), not been a dealer, a fellow user, a friend of a friend who is a casual user etc etc.... have you spoken to / spent time with ANYONE who has no connection whatsoever to your usage??
You HAVE to leave these 'friends' behind, REAL friends will understand and still be there later when you come out thhe other side.
LOCATION...some may find this difficult to achieve
You know your area, you know whhere to go, where to score, where its happenning, in the last month how many times have you gone out and NOT met a 'friend', seen a dealer, ended up somewhere your particular addiction is being actioned? We gravitate to these places without even realising it. How many times have you gone out and NOT returned stoned or with the means to do so??
You need to 'up sticks' and get the hell away if you are really serious about long term abstinance.
Being dependant on a substance, whatever it is , becomes your life, and to truly break free you need to leave it all behind, and never look back.
(sorry if this sounds harsh, spent 30 mins doing this post the pc crashed so had to redo, this is condensed version!)
