Interesting thing today - since having read this post, SWIM
did something today when he got his supply and was separating out baggies for easier consumption (an explanation and story in and of itself).
SWIM was transferring to the other bag and spilled a bit. Now, he spilled on a spot where it was decently easy to tell where everything was but it was on fabric (not on the floor, but on his black sweat pants). SWIM wasn't spun or high on anything yet for the day, but decided that picking up little flakes just wasn't worth it especially because he couldn't be 100% sure that ALL of the flakes were meth
So, SWIM picked up all the big pieces, and got what he could off his leg (that required little effort). After that, he got a couple of other little pieces but reached a point where it was more trouble than it was worth. Also, being that SWIM has a decent amount of supply for the next while, he decided to just brush it all off and not worry about the remaining little flakes.
Now, ask SWIM in a few weeks/months or whenever when his supply is gone if he regrets having done that and he might say "yes". But right now, while although SWIM is upset that he spilled anything at all, he is fairly content that he didn't load it all into the baggie with the risk of it being something other than meth.
I think that mentality is a LOT harder to have, though, if you don't have much supply on hand (or access to it). If SWIM's supply had been to the last few bowls, he might have spent a lot of time grabbing the crumbs, spun or not.
