Uh-Oh, my pet lionfish has been talking to some friends and is going to get a hand on some Salvia. Before He does it though, he wants some questions answered... this is what he has to say...

Re: Information for a first time user of Salvia
SWIM is pretty experienced with Salvia and has some tips for you.
Meditating shouldn't be necessary because when you are on Salvia you will not be thinking about anything bad in your life. Trips usually last between 2-7 minutes for SWIM and his friends. There is no way for it to definitely be a good trip but to help it a long. -A dark room is less scary than a lit room usually. -Don't try to stop anything or force yourself out of the trip this only makes it worse. -Tripping alone or with your sitter out of your sight is a lot less scary than having people in front of you. -Do it in a good enviroment. (Home, in a calm forest, anywhere you feel safe) -Take a large pipe toke and hold it for 12 seconds for a mild trip 20 seconds for a super intense trip. (This is based on 15X Salvia) -If taking a bong toke you don't really need to hold it in SWIM has held it for 2 seconds and he was out of his own world. |

Re: Information for a first time user of Salvia
It's important for a first-timer to know that the experience of the diviner's sage is subtle and unpredictable. Threads to the effect of "I smoked a whole bunch of salvia and nothing happened, what gives?" Are very common.
S. divinorum is very sensitive to environmental factors such as lighting, music, presence of other people, etc. Smoking technique and expectations also play important roles. Sometimes it just plain doesn't work. This doesn't necessarily mean that the herb is ineffective, it might very well work under similar conditions the next time it's tried. As for ensuring that the session will be a "good trip," it's important to be aware that this particular ally is known for frequently producing unpleasant experiences. Some people find it helpful to have a purpose in mind when using it. A positive mental state couldn't hurt, but there is no way to say for sure that it will definitely be a "good trip," whatever that means to you. S. divinorum is known for producing challenging, stressful experiences, sometimes accompanied by strong emotional reactions. While this is generally not what is understood by the term "good trip," experiences like this can sometimes be powerfully positive in terms of a person's mental well-being. |
