Partying on valium (Diazepan)?
Hi there,
My puppy was in thailand a couple of months ago for a wedding, and noticed that all of her cousins had a thing for taking a few valium (diazepan) and then hitting up the clubs only to pass out in the middle of the street a couple of hours later. Which leads her to ask, what is the point of partying on downers? She can understand using them to potentiate opiates and such, or for sleeping, but apart from that she just cant see a point, although she's sure that there are those that will do it. Any experiences/explainations which would help her to understand this would be much appreciated ![]() P.S. if there are any threads similar please feel free to delete this one, I did UTFSE but to no avail. Re: Partying on valium (Diazepan)?
From the top of my head I can only think of social anxiety, and availability.

Re: Partying on valium (Diazepan)?
For some people, downers produce extreme euphoria. SWIM is one of them. He would consider the euphoria from an appropriate diazepam/alprazolam dose as being as good as strong opiods eg IV morphine or snorted hydromorphone. Not the same, obviously, but still as powerful.
In his case, benzo's don't really produce a sedative effect, the have a paradoxical stimulation - he will dance like a maniac in a club, be extremely chatty. When using alprazolam he found the stimulation v. powerful - he would spend hours cleaning & organising his room, preparing financial budget etc. It's almost like speed for him. Good, god, so euphoric.... Not everyone experiences this from benzos. SWIM is also a classic alcoholic too - booze will cause *extreme* mindless euphoria and loss of control over his use (same with benzos) so I imagine it's a genetic predisposition that controls how euphoric one feels from benzos. |

Re: Partying on valium (Diazepan)?
Swim has a script for clonazepam and but doesnt really uses it of the time when he goes out to parties or out drinkin. Benzos are great for reducing social anxiety, but so is alcohol. Swim has had some bad experiences mixing liquor and benzos, it is not a fun time. If he is on benzos he sticks strictly to beer.
Swim's hypothesis is that maybe those cousins want to get drunk quicker. Or perhaps spend less on alcohol. |

Re: Partying on valium (Diazepan)?
Given a choice of Alchohol or Diazepam/Alprazolam SWIM would choose the benzos any day of the week. For him they are better for anxiety and lowering inhibitions. "to pass out in the middle of the street" would not be desirable for SWIM and is to be avoided.
SWIM too believes there must be a genetic predisposition for euphoria on benzos. Underlying anxiety conditions would also explain the relative "feeling much better" for some. |

Re: Partying on valium (Diazepan)?
OK, not trying to kill anyones high, but please remember, mixing benzo's with alcohol can be extremely dangerous. Either use one or the other, but not both at the same time. Benzo's increase the effects of alcohol, and alcohol increases the effects of benzo's.
Both alcohol and Diazepam are CNS depressants, and when you combine them, they are more powerful than either one alone. The combo can sedate you so much that it can suppress your breathing. So please, just remember this before combining the two together. After a few drinks (combined with Diazepam) your inhibitions will gradually decrease, and that's when risky behaviour (like taking more of this combo) may seem like a good idea. Especially whilst partying, cos you're gonna want to try to maximise the euphoria. Take care and stay safe. Sparkles. ![]() |

valium can have different affects on you depending on your mood or if your tired 25 mg will sometimes send me to sleep and 270mg can make me behave normaly if you mix heavily with drink be prepared to wake up in a holding cell and ask the turnkey what your in for temazipan is much the same to get enjoyment out of these keep active and fight the sleep

Re: Partying on valium (Diazepan)?
as some above mentioned, it just may be the DOC for swiys cousins. swim's DOC is opiates, and even though some feel sedated, or down on opiates, swim feels liberated, ready to go, euphoric, with an overall well sense of being, way more social and up up up. swim even once did dilaudid (hydromorphone) at the beginning of a rave, and had a fantastic time while on it (he forgot to get x before, and eventually later on in the night got them, well after he had 'came down' from the dilaudid so there was no mix of uppers and downers).
To each switheir own, even though benzos may seem weird, there are other swimmers whos DOC may be even weaker choices than benzos, such as DXM, codeine, DHC, kratom, salvia, kava kava, etc etc ![]() Jesse |

Re: Partying on valium (Diazepan)?
I'm not judging the cousins on their DOC, but haven't really heard of people who would take a downer and then try and stay up and party even though they are falling asleep, and was just trying to find out if this is common and what the effects are. I don't know, uppers just make more sense to swim

Re: Partying on valium (Diazepan)?
Swim has same perspective as vonn, mild curiosity at these strange creatures that take sedatives when it is time for social activity. He always put it down to placebo joy of an illicit substance, as well as guessing it loosened inhibitions. Swim has taken benzos and always promptly fell asleep, he was told they do a more effective job when drinking so he never really attempted it.
Interesting about the different effects for different people. He wonders if this is neurological pathways or if is brain/body chemistry. He supposes diet could well be a factor too (ie liver busy metabolising food/alcohol and benzo remains unprocessed, or even combines in liver to make intermediate drug) |

Re: Partying on valium (Diazepan)?
It's surprising, some find opiates make them buzz, some feel relaxed but not tired, on benzo's.
But anyone who encourages you to drink alcohol to enhance the effects of these two drugs, deserves a sharp smack with a sensible stick. It's extremely dangerous.Sparkles.

Re: Partying on valium (Diazepan)?
Taking benzo's and alcohol is not as dangerous as many seem to think, of course in high doses it is, but in smaller amounts not really an issue. BUT the actual problem is the user, anyone who wants to get fucked up on this combo needs a sharp stick to the nose! Not to sure on the potensiates the benzo, deffo potensiates alcohol so you abusers stick to one or the other and leave the mixing to the sensible folk.
