Bin Laden "plotted to poison US cocaine supplies"

Osama bin Laden tried to buy a massive amount of cocaine, spike it with poison and sell it in the United States, hoping to kill thousands of Americans one year after the 9/11 attacks, The Post has learned.

The evil plot failed when the Colombian drug lords bin Laden approached decided it would be bad for their business - and, possibly, for their own health, according to law-enforcement sources familiar with the Drug Enforcement Administration's probe of the aborted transaction. The feds were told of the scheme earlier this year, but its existence had never been made public. The Post has reviewed a document detailing the DEA's findings in the matter, in addition to interviewing sources familiar with the case.

Sources said the feds were told that bin Laden personally met with leaders of a Colombian drug cartel to in 2002 to negotiate the purchase of tons of cocaine, saying that he was willing to spend tens of millions of dollars to finance the deal.

It was not clear where the meeting took place.

Bin Laden hoped that large numbers of Americans dying from poisoned coke would lead to widespread terror.

"They wanted to kill thousands or people — more than the World Trade Center," said a source.

Although the drug lords would have reaped millions of dollars in profits by selling the cocaine to bin Laden, they knew that if his plan succeeded it might effectively destroy the market for their coke in America for years, sources said.

But that was only one reason they declined bin Laden's offer.

The other was their fear of retaliation from the U.S. government once its citizens started to die from the drugs, according to sources.

Despite bin Laden's plan being thwarted, the DEA believes that al Qaeda continues to this day to traffic in drugs to fund a variety of its operations — including training, traveling and terror attacks.

In 2002, then-DEA Director Asa Hutchinson said, "The DEA [has] received multi-source information that Osama bin Laden himself has been involved in the financing and facilitation of heroin-trafficking activities."

"It is important we recognize that when money goes from the pocket of an American to buy drugs, it may contribute to the financing of unspeakable crimes of violence around the world," Hutchinson told Congress that year when he detailed the narcotics trade connection to al Qaeda and other terror groups.

In April of this year, Afghan tribal leader Hajji Bashir Noorzai, who was one of the most wanted drug dealers in the world and previously had been identified as bin Laden's major heroin supplier, was busted in New York City on federal criminal charges.

I wonder how true this story is. Or if it's just propaganda planted by the govt. If it is true. Then the Colombian cartel leaders made a wise decision.

I am skeptical of the authenticity of the article, but if its true its
a good arguement for legalization. Something like that could only occur
on a black market, at least for the most part.

An undeclared war is being waged against the United States in the form of a long-range, sustained drug offensive by Red China and Russia. Why do U.S. officials suppress this information?

look for the full article at

http://www.stoptheftaa.org/artman/pu...ticle_81.shtml

this is how the shit goes, obviously US officersfind easyto blame the "reds" or the new devil "muslim terrorism" for drug production, trading and in this case "poisonong". i guess they think the can kill two birds with a single shot by crossing the 2 so called threats.

besides, how long would it take to notice the C was poisoned? I think an attack like this cannot kill more than 100 people unleas the poison would take a few days to kill you.

As PenguinPhreak pointed out, that's the consequences from prohibition and the so-called "war on drugs." I refuse to feel guilty for the U.S. government's own stupidity and pig-headedness. If drug money funds terrorism, it's because the government refuses to open a legal channel for a high-demand product.

Same theory re: the record companies and music downloading... until recently, the record companies refused to provide music online, and even now it's insanely expensive and only offered in poor quality lossy formats. Am I supposed to feel guilty for downloading something, when otherwise I'd have to pay hundreds of dollars for CD's which each contain one single song I like, merely to put together a compilation? I think not.

Bottom line... give the people what they want. Otherwise, they'll find ways to get it anyway.Edited by: Nicaine

Lol, what a poor attempt at linking drugs to terrorism.

^ exactly. NYPost isn't the most reliable tabloid out there.

As for AQ making some $ via trafficking in Afghan heroin -- gee, ya
think? No surprises there. Ask the other Al of yore (Capone) how
profitable any banned and in-demand thing is.

Because Laden is retarded and ignorant just like 90% of the rest of the egocentric terrorists all they can do is devise plans... And sometimes follow through with them hit and run gorilla warfare style... Besides you can tell this is obviously bullshit... If anything the DEA and FBI and all other forms of government power would try to keep this all underwraps... And praise Bin Laden for making their jobs easier by killing off people who do in fact use cocaine and and crack... Thus benefiting the war on drugstipping thescales in theDEA's favor...Wouldn't this help those pricks down at the DEA? For instance... A drug dealer decides for some reason to test the... Five pounds of blow that he was about to use... Two lines... He's dead..Death: Cause of death... tampered poisoned cocaine... Amount of cocaine seized by DEA:4.9996 pounds... You know... That kind of thing... Would help them out... Besides... Most of the coke available on the street already contains poisons hah... Well... Good thing the story is fake D... Gotta love this kind of thing though... It was like the big weed poisoning scare a couple years back... With the pesticide...A lot of people I know arestill alive... How about the rest of you? Yes... I'd say so.

Hehe, he probably got the idea from what an old DEA member said around the 80's. If I remember correctly, a senior DEA member suggested a plot to sell marijuana that was laced with poisonous chemicals. This scheme would render the arguement that pot never killed anyone useless. Does anyone else know what I'm talkin about?

Also sounds like the plot of that BBC special "If Drugs Were Legal"
which was a fictionalized account of Britain in 2010. Don't want to
spoil it but there is a twist with the opponents of legalization.
