Salvia Quids and information request from SWIM
SWIM wishes to try Salvia.
SWIM has tried other things LSD, MM's and LSA seeds (SWIM says the bad guts was horrible) Anyway SWIM does not smoke for 12 years and wants to try quids, SWIM needs basic knowledge about quids (oral ingestion) with normal leaves not x2 x 5 x10 or whatever. SWIM also hears that traditionally smoking Salvia is sacriledge to it's original indigenous users. SWIM says any information from SWIY is appreciated. |

Any information is gonna be a lot of information isn't it
? Instead ill just tell you what experience you should expect from the oral method of taking salvia. This method definitely has the most drawn out effects the entire trip lasting for, near to an hour. This isn't an hour of hallucination but more of a steady rise a massive peak then a decline into relaxation and a new found understanding of the universe. If you want to see crazy shit the only way to go is smoking. p.s add something like honey to the leaves they dont taste great otherwise and chew for around 15 minutes keeping as much of the juice in your mouth swallowing should be kept to a minimum, be near a bowl or sink handy so you can get rid of your leaves after the 15 minutes, try two hits of the leaves if you dont feel anything from one. |

Re: Salvia Quids and information request from SWIM
Swim currently has a quid in. Honey would have been nice. He says the taste is less than pleasing
braddubya added 3 Minutes and 58 Seconds later... One quid down. Now for number 2. Swim has not figured out quids yet. It seems pretty hit or miss. Swim will let you know how it goes. braddubya added 42 Minutes and 30 Seconds later... Swim felt some kind of strong waves of effect and felt very heavy for awhile after 3 quids. Now however he feels pretty normal. Had some closed eye visuals but in swims opinion it was not worth the effort and taste unless more effects are on their way. Swim however generally only smokes salvia so is by no means an expert on how a quid should be taken. Swim brushed his mouth with a tooth brush and used mouth wash to help with absorbtion then swim rehydrated some foliage in water for several minutes. Then took a large clump and chewed for 12-15 min then repeated for a total of 3 quids. Didnt do much so swim is thinking he may have done something wrong. Re: Salvia Quids and information request from SWIM
The orginal users are all but dead. If you are respectful in your heart, that is all that matters.
Sorry but I hate "cultural appropriation" BS. I heard some douche arguing that because Aborigines refused to allow their woman to play didgeridoos on the ground that it would steal their manliness, it is inappropriate for non aborigine woman to play it. Bull shit! Just because they wanted to be ignorant and misogynistic, doesn't mean we need to be that way. I also feel that they wouldn't give two shits about it. Pipiltzintzintli was a tool to the people who used it, and they certainly smoked other plants. Problem was, smoking unprocessed leaves isn't going to work. Shamans and herbalists were chemists, and often did things to concentrate plants and create blends, often with a wide array of ingredients. I guess I don't feel that it breaks "tradition" to responsibly use a concentrated plant. I do highly recommend reading The Green and the White. by Dr. Andrew Weil, on an argument AGAINST concentrating plants which really aught to be required reading for drug users. I just feel differently when it comes to psychedelics and responsible use. The concentrates work wonderfully, and taking two or three hits of S. divinorum, is hardly a health hazard to the lungs or anything else so far. Consider that it is an easy plant to cultivate, there's a bit of discussion in the "growing ethnos" forum that's worth reading. The chemistry for concentrating it isn't overly difficult either, it takes some time, but it's a good excuse to sing some songs and prepare the space. If the initiate chooses to go for the quid, put some prep time in. Clean the ritual space, set the lighting and make the floor comfy, this gives the initiate time to meditate and having a "tripp zone" that's designed for the experience, really does improve things. Pilgrims to the Sagelands are often searching for something elusive, it's good to understand what is desired, the passage way is disorientating at best, and the Sagelands themselves are at worst. |

Re: Salvia Quids and information request from SWIM
Swim tried again and got much different results. This time swim took 3 big quids and swallowed the last one. This lead to very intense results
![]() Swim was just staring at a door watching it pulse and change shape and then the whole room melted. It was very intense so swim turned off the lights and enjoyed the light show inside his eye lids ![]() Swim may never smoke again. |

Were the leaves fresh? How many leaves per quid? What about the patient's vitals, height weight...? Care to expand on the visions? or the activity that led up to them?

Re: Salvia Quids and information request from SWIM
Swim had tried using quids for a few days so the reverse tolerance may have been a factor.
Swim specs Weight: 210lbs Height: 6'2" General Tolerance: Normal Quid Specs Form: Dry Leaves Amount: Not sure on weight but swim would add and chew leaves until he reached the limit of what could fit under his tongue. (sorry for the inaccuracy I dont know what swim was thinking) # of Quids: 3 Time Period in Mouth: 20min Swim also swallowed the last 2 Swim said the visuals were no where near that of breaking through while smoking but were very interesting. Vision was jittery and the walls where pulsing. Swim had a loud but not unpleasant ringing in his ears which he later realized was the sound of the mini fridge, television and the fluorescent lights in the room and he could distinctly pick out which pitch was was coming from where. Heightened sense of hearing and visual color. Swim said objects in the room seemed to move and change shape as if they were made out of gelatin. As said earlier a melting effect was also common. What swim said he enjoyed most was the color patterns he could see when his eyes were closed. They would start out as the little light tracers that are still visible when one shuts their eyes created by light sources. Then swim said these tracers would morph into patterns which would stream from a vanishing point in the center of his vision (with eyes closed) toward himself as if falling through a tunnel of the pattern. The pattern would change from shapes to sparkles even to objects and people but always some shade of blue green or red...mainly green. At first the these patterns were not even noticeable but as swim concentrated on them they became exponentially more apparent and elaborate until swim fell asleep. Swim feels that if he had not fallen asleep these patterns could have become a whole imaginary world with how detailed it was becoming. Swim also remembers some very bizarre erotic dreams swim will leave out those details.Hope that was enough detail for you |

Re: Salvia Quids and information request from SWIM
Thank SWIY very much for the info.
SWIM is getting some high quality leaf soon. SWIM do it my way, SWIY do it your way, SWI us are both happy, SWIM wish to do it the way SWIM heard it was used, SWIY may have a deeper understanding than SWIM, so SWIM starts with care, SWIM does not need to see another dimension as yet. SWIM am a more mellow kind of person and don't smoke, SWIM gave up that up 12 years ago and like my lungs as they are. Moving forward slowly, safely and enjoyable, hopefully. Thanks again and have a great week all. Sobercolober added 170 Minutes and 58 Seconds later... Following on a bit, reading more and more about smoking Salvia it seems like a complete loss of touch with normality is common. Not knowing what is real and what is real sounds rather disturbing. SWIM has never tripped on LSD to a degree where he did not feel he was in control underneath despite some mad visuals, strong confusion (during first LSD trips) and a great euphoric high. What can SWIM expect from ingestion from chewing quids, SWIM do not think the complete loss of touch with reality would be appropriate at this time. SWIM am up for some visuals and some high feelings, SWIM do not need to go beyond SWIM death, the 4th dimension and feelings of incredible fear right now. Quids are more mellow right? thx Last edited by Sobercolober; 16-11-2009 at 17:16. Reason: Automerged Doublepost |
