Japanese murder suspect in Sydney took ecstasy before attack

SYDNEY — A Japanese tourist accused of stabbing a man to death at a Sydney backpackers hostel last December took ecstasy prior to the attack, a policeman told a court Tuesday, according to the Australian Associated Press. Noritaka Kawasaki, 28, is charged with the Dec 3 murder of Wayne Lee Nolan at the Avalon Backpackers Hostel.

Kawasaki admitted to police he stabbed Nolan but said he did not remember the events because he had taken one ecstasy tablet prior to stabbing the deceased, according to the report. Kawasaki, from Ibaraki Prefecture, allegedly stabbed Nolan in the face, neck, chest, back and groin as he lay sleeping.

the dude obviously had mental problems before this happened. possibly the mdma or who knows what chemical was in the pill (PMA, K, 2ct7) could have caused an already disturbed person to just go that one step further. i'm sure he's gonna be in prison for the rest of his life.

Don't about Australia but several US states do not allow voluntary
intoxication on any substance as a defense or mitigating circumstance.



A defense lawyer has to advise his client to seize on anything that
could possibly let help the case, this doesn't surprise me but if more
people had first hand experience with MDMA this shit wouldn't fly.
