SWIM is obsessed with getting buzzed...help is nowhere to be found.

What should SWIM do? He's not physically addicted to anything, except maybe snus....but whenever swim gets money he gets into this mode where all he wants to do is buy something that'll get him high/buzzed/wired/ and he can't seem to control his spending.

He's abused:
DXM (several times, nasty shit)
Muscle relaxers (once, it was a pill with a big M on it)
Kratom (a lot of this)
Propylhexedrine (a lot of this, even made pills out of it)
Coca (dissolved in liquor, mixed with energy drinks)
Alcohol (went so far as to drink vanilla extract and chug mouthwash)
Marijuana (soooooo much)
Caffeine (has popped too many pills and gotten the shakes before)
Oxycontin (one week of crushing + railing nonstop then had to face withdrawal because had no way to get more)
Amphetamine (nabbed a bottle of adderall once, was gone in a month)
Tobacco/Nicotine (yes he's actually railed nicotine lozenges for kicks).
Blue lotus
Dramamine (had a horrible hangover after popping 8, didn't even trip just was really paranoid)
Ritalin (stole some)
Celexa (was prescribed, hated it, stopped taking it)
Abilify (prescribed, still taking it, snorted it once just to see what it did)
Ambien (just prescribed recently, already taking more than prescribed, and taking it during the day and passing out for no reason)

My current psychiatrist has been going over the scheduled appointment length just to talk to SWIM because he's such a difficult case. Has been putting my family through a lot of shit. Now all SWIM's family members want to know what I'm doing all the time, even though they know they can't watch me 24/7. SWIM has had an uncle give him a benzo just to calm down once, has had another uncle threaten to kick his ass (he knows cops too). And even after dropping out and moving to a different state SWIM is still finding ways.

LIke just today he cashed a check that was sent to him after he refunded a college class. He bought a benzadrex inhaler from walgreens, mixed it with orange juice, now he's feeling great. Even added an ambien so now it's like a rinky dink speedball.

So where should I draw the line for him? My psychiatrist basically told me that there's noone that can help SWIM and he pretty much gave SWIM the ambien knowing that I'd abuse it but says "he wants SWIM to have SOMETHING hoping that SWIM won't go out and do other shit." And today I did anyway.

I've been told the problem is that SWIM has no self-control. Is this true?

What should swim do to learn self-control? Is it something that he's going to learn on his own?

Could someone who's maybe had the same or a similar problem give SWIM some advice? SWIM's 19 years old and feels like he's his own worst enemy and that he's throwing his life away and that I can't do anything to stop it...
