Mouthwash and Smoking Salvia D
Okay, SWIM is new to this site. He has been reading through a lot of the forums and this forum has interested him the most and has compelled him to join the site.
SWIM has recently purchased 2 grams of 25x Salvia and understands that chewing salvia after using mouthwash enhances the effects, but SWIM has used mouthwash before SMOKING salvia in a really crappy joint of pure salvia and notices the high lasting longer as opposed to just doing it without. Has anyone else heard of this happening or is SWIM losing his mind (which he has about to as this substance is too intense). |

Re: Mouthwash and Smoking Salvia D
SWIM would assume this is just placebo... or is related to the amount smoked. Salvia trips can be extremely varied and unless SWIY has a scale (which SWIM assumes he doesnt) he wouldn't know if he had smoked more which could have contributed to the extended length. In addition, salvia trips can last from around five minutes to a half an hour... SWIM believes that the mouthwash contributes to the trip because it increases SUBLINGUAL absorption, but wouldn't have any effect on the rate of absorption during INHALATION.

Re: Mouthwash and Smoking Salvia D
Hmmm...it just seems strange. Last nite SWIM used mouthwash and rolled a roughly half gram of weed which had some salvia leaves in it too. Not a lot but particles... and he noticed the Salvia hitting him more than it should with such a small amount. The first time this mouthwash experiment happened it was Thurs. but that when he had 'a lot' and felt the effects more immensely and the duration was a lot longer. SWIM is just wondering if the mouthwash the second time last nite contributed to the intensity of the trip since barely any salvia was with the weed but it could be due to the reverse tolerence effects as well.

Re: Mouthwash and Smoking Salvia D
I would say that nobbieq's friend's observation is scientifically possible if not valid. Salvia is known to be active through the oral mucosa. If smoke is passing over it while you are inhaling, it will inevitably be deposited to some degree. If the mucosa is covered in dead, impassable skin cells, the Salvinorin wont be able to easily pass on through to SWIY's bloodstream.
However, if the mucosa is cleared of these barrier cells, and an alcoholic solvent from mouthwash is present to more readily bind to the Salvinorin and permeate through the mucosa, it makes sense that SWIY would feel the effects more from the Salvia vapor as it passes down toward SWIY's lungs, getting absorbed through the mucosa along the way instead of sticking stagnantly to it when no additional solvent or clear passage is present. |

Re: Mouthwash and Smoking Salvia D
Okay, so my friend is not going crazy! Because he definately noticed an improvement in the high and it lasted much longer too...he'd have to say after a pure joint of maybe .3 or .4 g of salvia, the intense effects were felt like up to an hour and then started to taper off. He even timed it on his phone and concluded at 2 hours the effects were pretty much gone and just felt left feeling stoned.
If mouthwash helps with absorbing salvia through that mucosa, could it also help with absorbing weed, cigerrettes or anything else that is smoked? |
