Re: More info on kudzu and alcoholism, please.
yes. i took it for awhile while working on tapering my daily drinking ( i was working hard at spending 2 24 hour periods a week sober, working to 36 hours, and then 5 days a week, etc...) it was subtle. drinks tasted ...off. ( i had been taking the kudzu for about a week at this point) and i was feeling ...off all the time. so i ended up drinking less simply because i was feeling strange all the time. it's almost like the kudzu was amplifying the shaky, unwell feelings longer than normal, leading to less consumption by default. this general unwell feeling stopped by week 3. on my 'days off' i no longer felt anxious, or shaky, or sick, just tired, and worn out. the herb was slowly moving me away from the drinking. slowly.
then circumstances beyond my control demanded daily self medication.
i plan on tapering again ( unlike when i went cold turkey a few years ago, after almost a decade of daily drinking....sure i stayed sober for almost 2 years...but the cold turkey thing was...disturbing) and have already bought more kudzu that i'll use with my vitamins, and valerian for sleep.
it works. it's subtle, and at first not so nice. could be placebo, could be that i subscribe to plant intelligence, and plant teachers.
it's odd, because while using kudzu, and a few other herbs, not only did the need to drink dwindle, but so did my need to smoke.
for someone wishing to stop drinking, kudzu is an ally, as are valerian, chamomille, passion flower, and a few others.
good luck ^^
