Oral use - Different Ways of Consuming Mushrooms

SWIM tells me:

hey im new to using mushrooms, last year i ate full mushrooms and had an amazing, long trip. Right now all i have is shake and i want to put it into capsules to make pills out of them because its too fine to chew, does anyone know if these pills will work even though the mushrooms wont be chewed up

And as for your situation, any method of mushroom ingestion will work as long as it goes and stays in your stomach.

It would be perfectly fine to put them in the shake, just make sure to swallow all of it and if youre putting it in a blender or something make sure it doesn't get hot as excessive heat degrades psilocin and psilocybin... although I think it would be difficult to reach that point without putting them in the oven or something.

Does this effect happen if swim over boils them while making tea? At what temp does psilocybin begin to degrade?

Psilocybin and psilocin are sensitive to oxidation, with psilocin being particularly sensitive. This process is accelerated at higher temperatures. There is no specific temperature at which this breakdown occurs, however, the longer you expose the psiloc(yb)in to a raised temperature (in the presence of oxygen or an oxidizer), the more will be degraded.

To my knowledge, there has been no study or report of anyone quantifying the amount of degradation at various temperatures. Qualitative reports however seem to indicate that less than an hour of boiling or steeping seems to have little to no effect on the potency of psiloc(yb)in water solution.

I have definitely heard many experiences of mushroom tea (made with boiling water) working fine but I would only do that as a last resort... just eat them, its part of the experience!

Oh sorry.. i thought you wrote you wanted to put it in a shake haha... if you do decide to make tea, drink it as soon as possible to avoid excessive degradation

Boiling is okay for a few minutes, but SWIM prefers to just pour the boiling water over the mushrooms in another cup to let it steep. The water stops boiling as soon as it's poured in, but is plenty hot enough to pull out the alkaloids quickly.

Adding mushrooms to a shake is another possible option. SWIM likes them blended into OJ, but the foam on top created from the blender is really nasty, so try and let it settle in the fridge for a few before drinking it, if you use a blender.

Swim likes to put them on a Hotdog or Pizza and eat it in a very very public place.. No paranoia at all, just fun watching people go buy like "Oh that guys eating a pizza"... Covered in Mushrooms!! I don't know =) Just rambling. Other than that if you don't want top put them in a pill just throw em in the shit talker and gulp some orange juice.. its weird because its like a powder but it works. And if you have a scale weigh it out because the dust can be more.. wayy more of a dose then you usually go for because you didn't realize the weight.. trust me.

Hmmm, maybe a dumb question, but some of swims trippy friends say they put the shake in joints or blunts! They call it smurf dust!! Now, swim read about heat degrading the stuff, so is smoking feasible at all?!?!

Smoking does work, but it's a fucking waste of mushrooms, IMO. The amount it takes to actually feel anything is ridiculous, and it makes the weed taste like macaroni and cheese mixed with feet. Just eat 'em.

Is SWIY this even works at all? SWIM has never tried it but he guesses that getting mushrooms hot enough to combust would kill all of the psilocin/psilocybin and make the smoke useless. But SWIM doesn't have any experience with that so perhaps he is wrong..

swims never felt a thing from smoking funguys. used bongs, blunts...etc...and just ended up with a lot of wasted mush.

eating them any other way then just straight up takes away from the experience for swim!

Swim goes empty stomach and downs 2.5g-5g depending on what the occassion is!
