Gary over at (website censored since sources aren't allowed here) recommended Kratom powder in capsules to help avoid nausea & increase effectiveness. I recently tried this method with commercial-grade Kratom, and I'm sold. It seems the body extracts the alkaloids a lot more efficiently than making it into a tea. Also, it's a lot easier to control the dosage... after using capsules a few times, you know exactly what it takes to do what.
Can't wait to try it with the "super strength powder" available on some websites... it should take a lot less and work even better. I'm going on vacation out-of-state in September, and this should be the perfect way to carry around and use Kratom while on vacation. A prescription bottle + colored capsules, and nobody will be the wiser.Edited by: Nicaine |

this is just very interesting to me thanks Paul |

Not sure what size, I emptied some caps that previously contained St John's Wort. They're about 24mm long and 3-4mm wide.
I'd say three or four of these capsules packed full (commercial-grade Kratom) and taken on an empty stomach is equal in effects to approx. one Percocet. Except the buzz is rather unlike Percocets... more mental cloudiness, itching and visual disturbance. Feels more like a synthetic opiate or something, like Demerol. The "super strength" powder available at some websites is almost 5 times more potent than commercial-grade stuff, so you can extrapolate from that... I'd recommend the strong stuff (300mg/25g) to help avoid nausea. Edit -- I looked around online, & these appear to be size "0" (O?) or 1. I sure as hell wouldn't want 'em too much bigger, horse pills are a serious pain in the ass.Edited by: Nicaine |

I only use Kratom in 00 size pills. Does it do the job or what. I dont
know why every one says you have to make a tea or it won't work. Kratom seems to effect me very strongly and I usually only take 4 pills which is 2 grams. Try it! |

Just be careful... for several days, I occasionally popped capsules throughout the day instead of doing it all at once. The capsules make it too easy to use in this manner. I now have a wicked tolerance built up... hopefully it'll go back to normal after a couple Kratom-free days. I just hope there aren't any unpleasant withdrawal symptoms... been there/done that with opiates & don't particularly care to revisit it again.Edited by: Nicaine

Re: Kratom powder in capsules
SWIM can relate to Nicaine's warning. SWIM has a bad habit of taking capsules throughout the day. SWIM is about ready to quit for a while, but will likely have a backlash. Nothing happened on the 1 day SWIM abstained recently, though. With heroin, SWIM got sick about 12 hours max after a dose.
Caps are the way to go. SWIM posted in another thread that a 00 holds about 650 mg and makes it really easy to dose precisely. Tea kicks in more quickly, but the nausea and retching make it not worth it ! |

Re: Kratom powder in capsules
Swim tried this with premium kratom, loaded 8 gelcaps (the size is the standard gelcap size emptied from st. johns wart.) Swim had little to no effects from this method. Not even a mild case of the itchies. Swims source is quite reliable, perhaps more will do the trick.

Which incidentally not only built up a tolerance, but turned into an addiction (both physical and psychological) that SWIM didn't kick until June of this year. Kratom is great stuff when used moderately/responsibly, but it has a dark side... not only can it be addictive, OD'ing can result in dreadful sickness. Worthy of respect.

Re: Kratom powder in capsules
SWIM too caps his kraton and MG seeds and will cap any other legal herb like that. I think its beter becuase it kills the taste, alot easier and faster to get high, and like you said you get higher becuase your body gets all it can get.

Re: Kratom powder in capsules
Swim always thought the reason that kratom was made into a tea in the firt place was to get the psychoactive stuff out without having to injest the plant material. Why was the tea method even invented in the first place, wonders swim, if eating it straight is more effective and causes less nausea??

Re: Kratom powder in capsules
SWIM must be living in an alternate universe or something because the tea is way more effective than capsules for him..it hits much faster and stronger (never had any nausea issues either)...seriously, how are you guys making the tea? are you leaving the plant matter in the tea? (if not, thats probabally the problem...many of the active alkaloids are not soluable in water)

Re: Kratom powder in capsules
wait, so OK I have to ask again then;l why even bother to make the tea when you are just going to consume the plant matter anyhow? If that's what you are doing then capsules are obviously better, being more efficient. I mean who wants to spend MORE time tasting this earwax?

Re: Kratom powder in capsules
it hits faster...your stomach digests the plant matter immediatly instead of having to dissolve a bunch of capsules first....and the taste isnt that bad (it doesnt taste good, but it is definately bearable)
enquire, maybe so, but many others agree with me...on an ethnobotanical forum i am a member of, the tea is by far the preffered method... Last edited by jux; 12-06-2007 at 17:37. |

Re: Kratom powder in capsules
Does leaving the plant matter in effect nausea in any way? Swim only rarely has stomach problems with kratom (if anything, swim's digestive system feels much better after a couple hours) Swim will be getting an ounce of "premium grade kratom" in a day or two and is intriuged. Should swim leave some or all of the leaves in the brew? Swim doesn't care about taste, as strong coffee has been found mask the bitterness well enough.

Re: Kratom powder in capsules
SWIM has never gotten nausea off of kratom, so i dont know if it will increase nausea in those who are predisposed to it...
my method is fairly straightforward... 1) measure out the amount of kratom you want (i like to use kratom that has been ground to a fine powder) and dump it into a small coffee cup 2) pour hot (not boiling) water into the cup 3) stir and drink....the leaf obviously isnt going to dissove into the water...you just want to get as much suspended as you can...i don't find the taste to be that bad (the texture kinda sucks though) and i can generally get it down in about 2-3 swallows 4) add a little more water to the cup to get excess plant patter off the sides and drink you can also add grapefruit juice into the mix to boost the effects of kratom (since grapefruit juice is a minor maoi) people swear by this, but SWIM has never tried it...he HATES grapefruit juice... Re: Kratom powder in capsules
Interesting. Originally, my cat used to make tea as he assumed that making an 'infusion' (as the supplier told him) was the correct way, but then he read in another forum people saying that grinding the stuff up as fine as possible and simply swilling it back in water was the most economical way. Capsules will be a bit slower but more pleasant.
It depends on whether the alakloids in need to be activated by boliling in water or not. Traditionally fresh leaves are chewed, but in Malaysia a tea is made. |

Re: Kratom powder in capsules
Would it be safe to say then that one could just throw an ounce of premium kratom leaves into a blender with some water and let 'er rip? If all the leaves are going in anyways, there is no real reason to heat it up is there? Swim just got on ounce and is thinking of doing this. Swim used to add kratom leaves to real hot water, let it unfuse, filter out the leaves, and repeat several times then boil down the tea until it would fit in a pitcher. Swim is guessing this other method should work a hecuvalot quicker and result in a more potent brew.
