House Judiciary Committee to study rise of shake-and-bake methamphetamine labs

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — State lawmakers plan a public hearing to discuss ways to curb the growing number of shake-and-bake methamphetamine labs in Oklahoma.

The House Judiciary Committee will convene a study Thursday into the small-scale meth labs that have created problems across the state in recent months, especially in Tulsa County.

Area lawmakers say dozens of fires and at least four deaths have occurred since Jan. 1 due to clandestine meth labs in apartments, cars and motel rooms.

The study will examine whether law enforcement agencies and pharmaceutical companies have possible solutions to stem the rise in the new method of making meth.

The method involves a two-liter soda bottle, a few handfuls of cold pills and some noxious chemicals that are shaken to produce a chemical reaction that produces the addictive drug.

uhm... yeah what he said above. lol.. all drug laws are rediculous, if our founding fathers were alive today they would spit on our law book. they wrote the book on freedom and what america is today is not their america. i am honestly very disapointed in our so called freedom. the world was once allowed to practice chemistry without question. that is how we got to where we are today. anybody who wishes to practice chemistry should be allowed the right as it is writen in the constitution and should be allowed to put anything they want in there body as writen in our constitution. americans were once allowed to do any drug they wanted LEGALLY! people should stop looking at drugs as the problem and look at our current structure of law.
