Getting Drunk almost instantly.
SWIM has been quite a heavy drinker for some time now but over the last year or so SWIM seems to get drunk so quickly these days as oppossed to years prior when SWIM could drink almost all day & night & still be coherent.
You'd think it might not be a bad thing but SWIM is a lot more aggressive now also & that kinda sets a sour mood/tension at home. How could someone be unable not to hold his liqour these days after years of drinking..?? |

Re: Getting Drunk almost instantly.
Years of heavy drinking alter the chemistry of one's liver, making it easier to get drunk on smaller amounts. Enjoy this phase because its usually a quick ride into full-on alcoholism.

I stopped drinking completely when I noticed this happening to me. I'd advise the OP to do the same. |

Very usefull - I can't get drunk these days.
Unless I use loads. I swear a little potentiates Diazepan, even though my doctor disagrees. |

Re: Getting Drunk almost instantly.
The above is true. Some long term drinkers lose their tolerance at some point and encounter the strange phenomena of being relative "lightweights" again. I think it's brain chemistry, as opposed to liver chemistry, that causes the change. Or SWIM thinks it. But he could be wrong.
You have to be boozing pretty damn hard over a long period of time to get there, though. If you are there, serious problems are present. But unless you are delusional, you already know that. |

Re: Getting Drunk almost instantly.
Another thing to remember when drinking on a regular basis, you're just topping up. Especially when the amounts consumed are also quite significant.
The alcohol never quite leaves the body, so not as much is needed. But totally agree with everything that's already been said, if it's affecting your life in negative ways, perhaps it's time to call it a day? Just remember, it's not always wise to just quit, there may be W/D symptoms, you may need meds to help with this. Take care and be safe. Sparkles.

Re: Getting Drunk almost instantly.
Not really, a little diazapam and a little alcohol is safe, its only if you go over the top in a big way that it gets dangerous. Dont be so negative on the medical profession chap.

Re: Getting Drunk almost instantly.
Small doses of either alcohol or benzo's is not a problem, but even small doses together can be.
The fact that someone feels the need to take both together (even at small amounts) when reading the label that tells you it's not recommended, makes me wonder why someone would go against medical advice? Just a cursory glance on the net, would inform the most drug naive person of the possible consequences, which would certainly dissuade them. Unless they were either looking for a buzz, or trying to minimise a comedown. In which case even small amounts are deadly. Why? Cos if either of those reasons are the one's you're using, it won't stay at small amounts. Getting high, and being ok, will give you a complacency, a false sense of security that if you watch what you take, monitor it, you can take higher doses and be safe. No, you can be quite safe on one day taking a certain amount, and up either the alcohol, the benzo, or even take a different benzo, and think you're gonna be safe. If you're using it for the second reason, to reduce a comedown, especially where alcohol is concerned, then I'd say you already have a problem with one substance, it would be easy to add another. Also, taking small amounts of any benzo, to reduce a comedown can become a physical and psychological dependency, and ever larger doses of both will be needed to achieve the same effect. This is when the dose begins to rise, this is where it can become life threatening. So, rather than take one drug, a potentially dangerous drug, when combined with alcohol, perhaps it would be better to look for the cause, not mask it with potentially lethal drugs? Get some help, talk to a doctor or counselor, but if you have begun using any benzo's to minimise, or enhance, the effects of alcohol, don't quit abruptly. Sparkles knows lots of people who drink, get half cut, slurring their words, then deny they've had loads to drink. One particular man will say he only has a few pints, and he feels normal after them. Even when he's slurring, and swaying slightly, HE thinks he's ok, he can't feel it. Could this be happening to the OP? After all most people, until they quit, can't see how substances affect them, but people who don't use, or use moderately, can see the effect. It's just that the OP can't feel it, or see it anymore. Which would indicate that he needs to get some help, soon. Not lecturing, just care and concern on Sparkles part. Seizures can occur on abrupt withdrawal of even small doses benzo's, that have been taken regularly. Whilst a seizure on it's own may not kill you, it can leave you brain damaged. And depending on where you had a seizure could also be a danger, if you were driving, or crossing the road, it could also be harmful, if not deadly, for others. Get some help, it is the best, and safest, course of action. Take care and stay safe. Sparkles. ![]() I realise that this topic is about enhancing alcohol, but felt it necessary to point out how dangerous alcohol and benzo's can be, at even small doses for someone who is drinking enough to feel no effect from it. Thanks. Last edited by missparkles; 28-10-2009 at 12:43. |

Re: Getting Drunk almost instantly.
That's one of the many reasons that Cowboy would rather smoke weed, because it doesn't make you feel like shit the next day. Since he smokes every day, he knows that he can't drink too much even if he wanted to, since he vomits every single time he drinks beer and smokes weed at the same time.
