Re: Anything for anxiety that isnt addicting?

Other much milder natural alternatives exist, such as Varlian Root, Kava Kava, St John's Wort, 5-HTP, but these only help you relax. These are all considered effective by some people. They lack strength, however.

I don't really get what you mean by the part highlighted in bold.

Many people find these substances to be fine anxiolytics. It all depends on how strong your anxiety problems are. On the plus side, these natural anxiolytics aren't addictive and are low on the side effects, so it wouldn't really hurt to try them out and see if they work for you.

I don't know if this is of any help, but SWIM was perscribed 7.5mg Zopiclone by his physician for coming off benzo's. He said this would help relieve the extra anxiety from withdrawal. He also said that they have far less addiction potential.

SWIM finds zopiclone to be very similiar to around 1mg of alprazolam with no tolerance.

But on a side note the 'Z' drugs as they are known (zopiclone, eszopiclone, zolpidem, zalepon) act on the same sub-unit of the GABA receptors as benzodiazpeines do. This could possibly lead to addiction.

Zopiclone is also mentioned in The Ashton Manual as an addictive substance, and there is a slow withdrawal schedule using diazepam substitution.

This is BS, it still has high affinity for the benzodiazepines subreceptor of GABA, and with it's very short half-life, is one of the most addictive hypnotics out there. Zolpidem was seen as a non, or less addictive benzodiazepine agonist, but unfortunenately that's just to good to be true. Doctors are now finding out it's reasonably simmilar to other short acting hypnotics like Dormicum(midazolam) etc.(though Dormicum is even more addictive)

I know it "BS" (please show me some respect). That is exactly was what I saying in my original post. They act on the GABA-BZD recpetors, there is even a slow withdrawal scheudle in the Ashton Manual for withdrawal from zoplicone with diazepam substution. Please do not treat me like an idiot. It is something I know alot about.

Re: Anything for anxiety that isnt addicting?

Try rhodiola rosea. The more I use it the more I realize how AMAZING it is for me. It takes away ALL my anxiety and just fucks all my stress to hell! I have tried brands that didn't work at all, most didn't actually, but look for a strong extract possibly with added bioperine. Or just get the plant material and brew it yourself. Could be worth a shot.

Re: Anything for anxiety that isnt addicting?

Swim looked this up. The amino acid GABA that can be bought as a supplement works in larger doses to reduce panic or anxiety...swim's going to try this...
