Oral use - Alternatives to the standard bases

Hello All,

There is a new coca product on the market which claims to have "alkaloid removers" (read: extractors) built into the powdered product. To achieve a reported 90% extraction of alkaloids, all one must do is "add water." The rep also claimed that baking soda alone was a poor extractor only yielding an extraction efficiency of ~ 30%.

SWIM pressed the company rep for further details and was only able to find out from the rep that:

1) the alkaloid extractor is not baking soda,

and

2) in the company rep's opinion, baking soda tastes terrible

Given the above response, and the company claim that the taste is far superior to baking soda, can SWIY think of any reasonable alternatives in-lieu of this tried-and-tested stand by?
