well, he was a major representation in a pro marijuana movement.


A well recognized figure directly associated with giving marijuana a positive image.


and now hes on a show, busting drug dealers spewing out anti drug propaganda. (well dont actually watch the show) but thats what cops on cop shows do.


where as you look at chong on the other the hand, he plays leo who iswell pretty much chong on "that 70's show". He had an online pipe store, he has continued supporting the cause that cheech has abandoned in order to pursue his acting career ($$) by playing a cop on tv.Edited by: pokeymcsmot420

they wouldnt just hire cheech to play a cop for no reason. its probably
suposed to be ironic. i dont watch this show either but the role is
probably a bit of a joke. or if it isnt then maybe he just wanted to
look at things from a different perspective. "selling out" is more of a
music thing than a drug thing, if cheech really wanted to "sell out" he
would become a narc and rat on a bunch of drug dealers/famous drug
users. not all tv cops are anti drug assholes. look at that guy on law
and order SVU played by that comedian richard belzer. in one episode he
busts out with hell of pro marijuana facts and he is always suggesting
kind of secretly that he is a liberal pot smoking hippie. real cops are
dicks, of course, but on tv they try to give a friendly face to law
enforcement. 3 million Americans are regular pot smokers. sometihng
like 70% have smoked by the time they graduate high school. i doubt the
cheech plays a right wing dick hole cop, it would be ridiculous, and if
he does then hes just fucking around.

but he is playing a cop who on the regular basisbusts drug dealers and users who are potrayed on the show as gun carrying lowlifes. Therefor perpetuating anti drug propaganda.


cheech perpetuating anti drug propaganda counts as selling out in my book.....especially in comparison to chong who is still fighting for the cause to this day.


but still, i appreciate every thing cheech has done for our subculture and i wish him a happy birthday....just sayin

its a shame though that nowadays he doesnt want to be affiliated with
cheech and chong films and has claimed to have not smoke weed. I
forget where I heard this, so its not for sure true. I guess its
just him ageing and still getting crap from stoners on the
street.
