Lorazepam: How much to take and What to expect?


What should I expect from this drug, how many should I take etc... Just looking for any basic info on this drug. THX

You can expect a mellow,relaxed feeling. It's an anti-anxiety agent. It won't make you feel strange at all, just chilled out. And don't steal from your mom- she probably needs it. Go to her Dr. and get a scrip of your own! =) It depends on the pill dosage, but usually you take between 1-2 pills.

Did you take lorazepam, loprazolam or lormetazepam? If it any of the last two, you are asleep now. With the latter you might not be, but you will have no trouble sleeping tonight! You will feel sedated, dulled andinsensitive to stressas all tree are hypnotic benzodiazepines.

start of with 1 mg, to test your sensitifity. You can redose twice. Maximum advised dose is 3 times 2.5 mg for acustomed users with strong anxiety attacks. Overdosage can result in serious dercrease of consciousness, coma and breath-inhibiting. Be carefull with it.

lorazepam is pretty boring, you are pretty calm, but to the degree where it could almost be psychosomatic... they're for anxiety, but really, to what degree can you be *not anxious*? if you aren't anxious then you aren't anxious. it doesn't go much beyond getting rid of anxiety as far as effects go. Lorazepam + alcohol basically increases your intoxication, but instead of boosting the effects of the benzo it just makes you feel more drunk but with a little edge of feeling really lousy and disgusting.

Benzodiazepines are medicines that help relieve nervousness, tension, and other symptoms by slowing the central nervous system.

Purpose

Benzodiazepines are a type of antianxiety drugs. While anxiety is a normal response to stressful situations, some people have unusually high levels of anxiety that can interfere with everyday life. For these people, benzodiazepines can help bring their feelings under control. The medicine can also relieve troubling symptoms of anxiety, such as pounding heartbeat, breathing problems, irritability, nausea, and faintness.


Physicians may sometimes prescribe these drugs for other conditions, such as muscle spasms, epilepsy and other seizure disorders, phobias, panic disorder, withdrawal from alcohol, and sleeping problems. However, this medicine should not be used every day for sleep problems that last more than a few days. If used this way, the drug loses its effectiveness within a few weeks.

Description

The family of antianxiety drugs known as benzodiazepines includes alprazolam (Xanax), chlordiazepoxide (Librium), diazepam (Valium), and lorazepam (Ativan). These medicines take effect fairly quickly, starting to work within an hour after they are taken. Benzodiazepines are available only with a physician's prescription and are available in tablet, capsule, liquid, or injectable forms.

Sould you decide to consume them you will feel relaxed and mellowed out. If you take enough then you will fall asleep/pass out. Just like any other benzo. Please do not try to drive or operate any machinery while under the influence of benzo's. Wouldn't want to hear any horror stories.

Actually I am NOT going to take any. What I need to know is a definition that tells me the chemical make up of benzo's and that thare man made. This is for a court case, so it's important. Does anyone know if they are classsified as an illegal drug and what is the classification? Thanks for the help.

If you are in the US, then it is a schedule IV drug.

Q: What makes a benzodiazepine a benzodiazepine?


A: A characteristic of all benzodiazepines is the combination of a benzene ring with a diazepine ring.


The simplest form, 1,4-Benzodiazepine is not psychotropically active.


After this, the chemistry gets far enough evolved that a link, rather than a thesis is a far better mode of information transfer.

Ativan / Lorazepam questions
My doctor has rescently perscribed me some Ativan for dealing with
anxiety attacks i've been getting at school the pastwhile, but a few
questions about them.

- How long do these last for?

- I have sublingual tabs, how long is the onset?

- What are the withdrawl symptoms?

I was taking about one a day last week, and have found that after a day
of not taking one, I started to get a rather bad headache, took one -
it went away, day and a half later I hadnt taken anymore, and the
headache is comming back - is this an effect of 'withdrawl?' Or just a
fluke that I started to get the headaches after not having them for a
day or two?

Lorazepam is suppose to reach its peak plasma level at 2-4 hours and hae a half-life of 8-24 (I dont know how this will differ with sublinglal absorbtion but i assume it would hit faster). There are many withdrawl symptoms of benzos but it takes along time to build up a tolerance to benzos so you shoulnt have any withdrwal symptoms unless you have been on it for long peroids of time. Someone else on the board posed a list of all the possable withdrawl symptoms of benzos. ill look for it and post it.

Weight is a great deal less of the determining factor than Swiy seems to think. Its all relative, but social recreational value will be in the 1-3mg range for essentially everyone.

swim has had this perscribed for sleep in 1mg tabs and started at 1 then 2 and finaly 3 befor changing benzo's these doses just aloud swim 6-8hrs sleep and had been on benzo's for a while so swim say's star of mid way at 2mg and work up but can't say as a recreational dose f benzos for them is much higher when they do that but most of time they only used as perscribed by gp
