Opinions - Favorite Malt Liqour

Last topic about beer inspired me. I gotta say I'm a fan of Old
English and Hurricane. Grab your 40 and pour a wee bit out for
the homies...hahahaha

I was a huge fan of Old English when I was 15yrs old and I haven't drank it a quite some time. I ran into and old friend about a month ago who had just picked up two bottles and he gave me one when I drank it I had no idea how I could drink that stuff when I was a kid. It tasted awful to me.

I'd go with Mike's Hard if you even consider that a malt liquor. I love hard liquor though, especially orange vodka.

I used to drink Old E, Steel Reserve, and Mickey's when I was in high
school and didn't have much money. For some insane reason I
decided to drink a couple of 40s of Mickey's about two weeks ago and I
have no clue how I used to drink that stuff all the time. I also
had a terrible hangover the next day. I think I will stick Spaten
and Corona from now on. If I want to go cheap I will just get a
case of Miller Lite.

Personaly, I prefure Malted beer over any other,
They are cheap, Higher Percentage, And they taste great.

Brings back many memories of studenthood. I cant actually remember what it tasted like, but it contributed a great deal to me getting together with my husband!

In much of the USA, malt-liquor is associated with African-Americans in inner city neighborhoods. When the breweries realized this was cutting down on potential sales to the white population - they renamed the stuff: Ice Beer was thus born. Same stuff - new monicker.

Of course the traditional malt-liquors still exist. Nothing like a little racism in advertising.

The only drink that falls under the monicker "malt liquor" that SWIM has tried is the horrendous Bavaria 8.6. Each sip tastes like a cross between paint stripper and Danish oil. There are probably nicer ones on the market but if they taste anything like said beer, SWIM would avoid like the plague.

The nasty drunk that is burned into my memory, is one of a poor slob drunk, passing out , and waking up with a headache and sometimes black eye.

Now days it is a nice micro-brewed beer, or even a imported beer like Becks, Heineken, Carlsberg, and of course the Royality of St. Pauli Girl.

No, its a cheap/highalcohol beer, because of the higher alcohol content by weight , it is called a malt liquor.

All and all its a beer that goes flat quick and usally is bought/sold/ and drank from a large glass bottle usually 40 ounce.

the cost of a 40 ounce malt liquor is less or the same as a 12 ounce can or bottle of budweiser

It is around 6 % alcohol by weight, and no mixer it is beer for the sake of description.

all thou I bet the alcohol content could go as high as 9 or 10 %

Ohh malt liqour nothing beats it. Swim grew up drinking 40oz of olde English. But Swims all time favorite, http://www.40ozmaltliquor.com/archive/bullmax.html also comes in 6 packs. When warm, tastes like sweaty sock. Not kidding.

swims favorite was 211. Its cheap and it does the job quickly. Old English is a second favorite of swims. Nothing like an ice cold beer on a hot summer day =)

I remember when NIK was around 16 yrs old, he knew of a store close to home where I could buy beer, I was poor and thirsty for some beer, so I found out that Shiltz Malt Liquor Bull was the best buy for the money.

It contained a high alcohol percentage, and was priced under a dollar for a 32ounce quart.

I have not thought about it for sometime. I laugh when remembering the past.
