Like unico said, faucet screens. They work great and they are the perfect size.
You can also cut out a screen by cutting one of those metal cooking strainers. Those work great. Your parents might be upset that they are missing a strainer though. I would say buy your own strainer, you would have enough screen to last you a long time. You can also buy replacement pipe screens at any heads up. |

anybody know a site which shows me how to remove faucet screens? I have a screen door in my garage that used to be used for our backdoor until we got dogs who tore it up. So its just sitting there. I just cut a square and use 3 or so screens in the pipe. My town is in need of a headshop ![]() edit: screw it i dont want to fuck up my faucet. therefore i think ill just go buy some. Any specific kind i should look for or avoid? Edited by: korky8097 |

Otherwise, the screen can be seen when the tip of the faucet is unscrewed. The danger to the faucet comes when it is time to screw the tip back on; if SWIY forces it/if the threads do not match up, then they can become damaged and uneven, this is called stripping the threads and to repair it requires rethreading. SWIY can always replace the screen when he is done, if it is not his. I do not know what kind of metal(s) the faucet screens are made of. For smoking, brass screens last the longest. The headshop might have sliver or gold colored screens. The brass are the gold colored ones. |

Re: around the house items to use for screen
The screen is actually there to aerate the flow of water. You will notice that when it is gone the shit just blows out in an uneven flow. It is pretty damn obvious that it isn't there any more. I used to do that all the time as a kid, but now I will kill someone for taking them off of my faucets! How times change. Anyways, do like ProtectedByTheGods said or go to a store with a plumbing aisle and just ask for them. The are like 30 cents each and already rounded and perfect for placement in your piece.

That's true that a screen changes the flow of the water from a faucet. the change in flow can be an enhancement sometimes but protecting the pipes from clogging is probably a reason to have them as well. otherwise why would a washing machine have a screen at each end of it's hose?
SWIM said these two stones release fumes: -alabaster -soapstone I know there are more. And I realized that no one has mentioned using the bud it's self as a screen. A small piece of bud can be put at the bottom to act as a pebble in bowls that are too wide; sometimes it is good to use two or three mini bud pieces as a screen and so the mini pieces support each other and leave bigger spaces between themselves and the bowl sides, bigger spaces than just a singular boulder bud would. |

SWIM has a friend that swears that those filters you run paint through to get the specs of dirt out are the best. If someone tries this let me know if it works.

A tea strainer can be cut into custom size screens.

Yeah, my dorm once had a dorm meeting because all the faucets were in a shitty condition from people dismantling them for screens, and because there were so many holes in the screen windows. It was hard to sit through it with a straight face.

Re: around the house items to use for screen
Not to jump off topic all of a sudden, but: So using tinfoil really is a bad idea? Iv'e heard from a couple of dudes before that it can cause cancer or something of some sort, although the guy i heard it from was a dumbass so im not exactly sure what is rummored to effect.
As far as the topic goes tho, swim thinks agreees with the faoucet screens, seeing as how they are reusable, being metal and all, at least long lasting. |

http://www.innvista.com/HEALTH/nutri...nerals/tin.htm
lung disease inhaling tin vapours can lead to brain injury i'm assuming this is all in regards to prolonged use... but anything i've heard about it has made me think i'd rather swallow a mouthful of ash over time than inhale tinfoil fumes again and again... |

Re: around the house items to use for screen
the hoses that connect from the wall to your washing machine generally has screens too (sometimes one on each end)....just be sure to cut the water off first or you will have a huge mess (there should be a faucet where the washing machine hose connects to the wall)

We checked with SWIM and he says the screens in faucets are stainless steel and okay to use. But he says that window screens are galvanized and NOT okay to use.

Re: around the house items to use for screen
I can't believe how everyone is chopping up their sinks!
Just go to your local hardware-/drugstore, they have screen of various mesh sizes and material. You buy it by the meter (or foot, I guess), all you gotta do is cut it into little squares or circles to fit your particular pipe. |

I don't throw away glass pipes when I break them. Now I have lots of glass screens sitting around my house. Waste not want not.
