Artane & Brandy
Some time back, I was in a pub mostly frequented by Eastern Europeans. In one corner, cozy next to the fire, were 3 elderly Polish guys who were very, very mashed up indeed. I noticed that they were only slowly drinking plum brandy but they were acting far gone. I saw a couple of them take out pill-bottles and take a pill along with a swig of brandy. It turned out that they were imbibing Artane (trihexyphenidyl) with the ethanol. Trihexyphenidyl is used to treat the symptoms of parkinsons disease!!! In large doses (and they were popping a pill per hour or there abouts) produce effects almost identical to things like datura i.e. it's a diliriant working on the acetylcholine receptor.
Now, I am pretty game when it comes to trying out different mind-altering drugs, but having seen people ON datura and such, I am not about to try it any day soon.
All I can say is that these guys managed to wobble home with help from the bar staff so I can only assume that they made it a fairly regular evening out! Yipes, these Polish dudes must have constitutions of STEEL!
