Random Workplace UAs
Hey all,
My cat is new here, and she don't know if anyone can answer her question or not, but she thought she'd give it a shot anyway.
She takes approx 20-25 mg of hydrocodone on a daily basis. Her workplace does random UAs and uses a regular 5 panel, instant result test given by a mobile lab in the area. She know they test for opiates, but is not sure if the test is the type that tests for hydro metabolites or not. She has been tested twice and neither times elicited a positive result. The first time she hadn't taken anything for a few months, the second only a few days. She has a valid scrip for hydrocodone that doesn't expire until Jan 2010 which she received for an ankle injury...25 5 mg pills (all of which are gone), no refills, but in the interest of honesty, she is a recreational user. The prescription label on the bottle does not list why the pills were prescribed, it simply states take as needed for extreme pain, up to 6 per day. Her workplace uses a fairly casual method of testing. The mobile lab lady comes to the workplace, gives the employees the test cup and sends them into the bathroom. She then peels the label off the cup, reads the results, and sends the employee on their way. There are no questions about prescriptions prior to the test, nor are there any forms to fill out (not sure is that is all important, but my cat wants to be as thourough as possible). The last time my cat was tested, she mentioned to the lady that she takes hydrocodone and the lady replied "that won't usually show up."
My cat doesn't know exactly how hydrocodone breaks down in the body. She knows that the cuttof level for opiates on the standard tests are 2000ng/ml, but she doesn't know how that translates into 20 mg/day. She know the amount she takes would be a fairly normal prescribed dose. Her questions are:
if she were to be UAd again, and she tested positive, would showing the prescription bottle she has clear her for the time being, since the prescription is not expired?
and
if she did test positive and they took the sample to the lab and did the further testing to prove the hydrocodone result, would they be able to tell she had taken more than just a "couple the night before"?
Thanks
