Any tricks to avoid tolerance?

If you have read SWIM's posts in the past few weeks you will know that he is having problems with tolerance lately but isn't ready to give up GHB. He tried to taper but managed to ramp up usage until negative effects yet again.

Swim noticed that if he takes a break and gets to a natural sleep period for a week or so that he can return to usual dosing and get positive effects again. The problem is that within a week and a half he is back to where he was. It was never like this just less then 1 year ago and he has dosed the same for almost 10 years now with no problems until now.

What SWIM wants to know is if anyone has any tricks to manage tolerance? With opiates he would use DXM and Benzos to manage lower dosing of the opiate and it worked, but he doesn't know of anything similar for GHB.

Another thing that would work is a good alternative to keep anxiety issues at bay while off GHB for a more extended period (1month+). The only thing that works is Alcohol or Benzos but the benzos interfere with the tolerance even more, I think the alcohol does too to some extent. That leaves SWIM with no good options He tried many natural things to manage anxiety/depression but none have been effective so far, though he hasn't stuck to them long enough for them to work he imagines.

Or Swim guesses it could be as simple as sticking to a proper dosing schedule of 3-4 times a day for good effects only and never increasing dosing. Also this time SWIM hasn't used G for sleep at all but he has been having strange vivid dreams(some are lucid) that he wakes up from 20+ times a night and he always wakes up at about 3-4 hours in (used to be when SWIM would redose) It's like his body is so used to that schedule that it's hard to sleep a whole night naturally so he wakes up for a few hours and then gets maybe 1 more hour (4-5 hours total of bad sleep). Probably not the best sleep.

Thanks for any input, maybe it will help some others.

Re: Any tricks to avoid tolerance?

one guaranteed way of reducing tolerance is reducing intake after taking a break from using said chemical.

although SWIM is no expert on this particular substance, he thinks you should take maybe a 2-3 week break where you don't use at all, then if you must continue using, leave 7 days in between each dose

Re: Any tricks to avoid tolerance?

SwiD, Swim knows that is the right thing to do but hopes to one day revert to rec use. He plans to try a longer time off and more strict schedule next time.

Also Swim found this on Wikipedia regarding sulpiride

The benzamide neuroleptics (including amisulpride and sulpiride) have been shown to activate the endogenous gamma-hydroxybutyrate receptor in vivo at therapeutic concentrations. [1] Sulpiride was found in one study in rats to upregulate GHB receptors. [2]
GHB has neuroleptic properties and it is believed binding to this receptor may contribute to the effects of these neuroleptics.

Anyone tried this?

Turtle would ay that while drugs can trick swiy swiy can't trick drugs. To turtle, tolerance is a gentle warning from drugs- one that should not be ignored.

Re: Any tricks to avoid tolerance?

Advice taken, SWIM was just being optimistic and hoping he could keep it up for a bit longer

The anxiety without it is just crazy. Looks like it may be time to goto a doc pretty soon and just give in and get a benzo script again. Or make a real effort to wean to nothing so that it is a more gradual return back to anxiety.

Thanks

Re: Any tricks to avoid tolerance?

Good luck. Turtle has suffered from anxiety/social anxiety to varying degrees throughout his life. He also saw what an amazing crutch GHB could be...

But he thinks that it is what he has learned from drugs more so then the drugs themselves, that has helped him most in this journey.
