Berzins, 49, of Farmington, has a practice in West Hartford. She has written and lectured on eating disorders, female development, sex roles and self-esteem, according a speaker's biography from the American Psychological Association.


According to the arrest warrant affidavit, West Hartford police responded to the Farmington Avenue Stop & Shop and found Berzins lying on the floor and bleeding from her head. Berzins, the affidavit says, told police she did not know what happened.


Police interviewed witnesses and collected evidence, then determined that Berzins apparently inhaled from three cans of whipped cream containing nitrous oxide, known as laughing gas, the affidavit says.


Berzins was charged with possession of a restricted substance, criminal mischief and creating a public disturbance. She was released on $500 bail and is to appear in Hartford Superior Court on July 21.


"These are only allegations," said Bob Ludgin, Berzins' lawyer. "My client is innocent unless convicted. I have confidence that there will be no convictions."


A spokesman for the state Department of Public Health said Berzins has no prior or pending disciplinary actions.


In 1996, Berzins and state Attorney General Richard Blumenthal proposed a law requiring diet companies to prove their claims of success with scientific data, or remove those claims from their advertising and packaging in Connecticut. Umm.. not to 'dig up old posts' but NO2 isn't Nitrous Oxide, it's
Nitrogen Dioxide... which isn't something you want to inhale.
Just thought I'd say that incase someone comes here, sees "it was
incredible to take NO2 while on a psychedelic" and tries to get the
stuff and inhale it. Don't!

about a week ago my friend and i bought some whipped cream and inhaled it. the effects were fantastic, at first i thought nothing was going to happen. But about 2 seconds after i exhaled i felt increadable. i fell on the floor laughing for like 10 seconds and then it was done. i really enjoyed my experience

i love nitrous, it goes hand in hand with any other mind altering
substance you can think of. the high is amazing for one second
everything is ok, and you feel wonderful.

swim went to a party where someone had acquired some nos and was
passing out balloons full of the lovely stuff. swim inhaled one balloon
and was laughing maniacally for about 30-45 seconds followed by a kind
of stoned stupor for another minute or so. the next time swim had a
balloon full, swim inhaled and exhaled into said balloon for as long as
swim could and collapsed with laughter after 15 seconds or so of
breathing the nos. very interesting experience as there were 5
off-doctors at this party who were trying nos for the first time
recretionally.

After we left the club and was coming down from the roll, we would go to various food stores every weekend, put as many whip cream bottles in our clothes and do them in the bathroom. Then would fill up again and leave and do them with music. Very fun when I think back on it. Once we would ended up hitting this store like 4 weeks in a row since at 4:30am there is pretty much nobody there. They once came out chasing us and there were whip creams falling out of our pants as we were running. It was hilarious.

Not a nitrous pro or anything, but getting the cracker and cartridges are much better it seems. Although I have done the whip creams many more times only because they were much easier to get. They used to sell baloons right inside the raves way back in the day. $5 for one and several people could hit it.

The last time I tried nitrous oxide I was with a group of good friends who had already acquired the tools we needed. We had a "Bulbanator", a whipped cream device of some sought. Basically, you loaded the bulb of nitrous oxide into a holder that connects to the bulbanator. as you screw this on, a pin opens the small cap at the end of the bulb of nitrous, allowing it all to flow into the larger reservoir of the bulbanator (the container for the cream).
unscrewing the bulb holder allows you to empty the used bulb and load another one. As we had a sturdy steel bulbanator we loaded about five bulbs into the reservoir before we pulled the trigger and sucked the nitrous into our lungs. It was really quite... nothing. I remember thinking to myself, "This isn't even as good as a toot on a joint..." because it isn't. I held it in for as long as I could, and even did it several times. It's funny, you feel slightly off balance and its fun to all suck on it when you are in a group and to laugh about it but nothing really happens. Thats about it. I really don't have any desire to try it again. lol, sorry to be so morbid but nitrous seems like a waste of time to me.

Latest experience with nitrous was while tripping on 2ci. SWIM was in the middle of the peak when they decided to try a few cartridges. Wow, even the sound of the balloon filling was amazing. The feeling of one cartridge (pure whip brand) can only be described as an intense, extended orgasm of all senses. Sound especially. Sound is distorted, seemingly slowed down, and can be "felt" at frequencies other than those produced by subwoofers. Peak of experiences would only last for approximately 30 seconds. These felt so amazing under the circumstances that the group could not do them fast enough. Everybody seemed like crack heads fiending for another round. 150 cartridges were gone through rather quickly.

3-4 days later SWIM did a balloon filled with two cartridges. The experience quickly reverted back to the trip/n20 experience from the other night. It was more intense then usual, and caused SWIM to spasm rather intensely. It was to the point that a nerve felt pinched in SWIMs arm for the next day or so.

First time SWIM and his friend got their hands on a couple of cans of whip cream, they first thought "is this the right stuff?" Then the laughter started, and lasted about a minute. There is also a flanging "woo woo woo woo" sound followed by some pretty good body stoning. Best feeling SWIM has had was after vaporizing some good green herbage, and doing a few lungfuls... a full out body orgasm.
Then SWIM and his girlfriend got a case of chargers and a whip cream dispenser, and ended up using way too much too fast. Kinda lost its magic after a while, just like everything i suppose. Been a few years now, so probably gonna give it another shot sometime. Place SWIM got it from online still sends him emails regarding specials and sales.

Bongo was a bit ballsy one day and called a medical supply company. He ordered a 70-pound cylinder of nitrous oxide and ordered it delived to an address up over the hill where he attended high school. Called the residence The XXXX Street Medical School. It was Bongo's girlfriends' house. Predictably, something went a bit wrong with my lab ape's plans...

The phone rang at the house. It was the director of the science department at the school down the hill. He told Bongo there was a large, blue cylinder in the driveway. Bongo quickly suggested to the director of science to tell the driver where the medical school was. He complied. The large, blue tank was trucked up the hill - followed by most of the school.

It was a very long party. Many broken balloons adorned the floors and walls of the impromptu "medical school" and it's lawn. One clever character even started filling air mattresses with N2O to ride to the floor on.

The headmaster of the school down the way was NOT amused. But he gave up and never mentioned it again. Perhaps this was due to the fact that half his faculty was at the new Medical School up the way.

One day a SWIM and her bestfriend went to there local head shop to buy a box of 24 cream chargers, better known as whip it's or N20. We had a cracker already with us so we were ready. We did a few first in the car before we left, then since it was getting dark we decided to go downtown, go up to the top of the parking garage and sit down and inhale one N20, then stand up and look out over the city from the view at the top of the parking garage. It was the best time SWIM has ever expereince with N20, because when she looked down everyone just seemed like tiny little ant's and the city looked beautiful with all the lights. It was diffiantly one of the more inspring experiences SWIM has had within that 30 seconds of N20 bliss!

I didn't know why I felt the need to look for any answers about God or why it mattered but when I realized that an end to that means threw N2O was available I jumped in deeper then I could understand until it was over. For weeks every other conscientious breath was of pure N2O and I was Dissociated from my ego and was dropped back to the source of everything, even God itself.


In the beginning at the source of all things was a being. It appeared to me not as a man or animal or anything describable but something like an impossible jewel. Multi-faceted and aware of only an impossible question that could only be solved by “finishing” itself, like you would think of a Rubik's Cube only not describable in it's beauty and depth. The being worked with the question in a dark state where nothing else existed. After all the tumblers fell into place on this impossible jewel it had the answer and was aware (in complete light and ecstasy) that it was God. From God came four beings in the likeness of God, they appeared to me as beings with a single purpose. To solve a new impossible question but they could only “work” on their question when God finished whatever impossible thing it was doing. God still appeared as a multi-faceted multi-dimensional object. I could never comprehend anything beyond the fact that it was God.


As God completed the four beings could work on themselves in any direction they wanted. The four, in different ways, gained enlightenment and from them came more beings, all in the likeness of God. They could not work unless the one they came from finished. They, too, could only work when the one “above” them finished. In this way a complexing impossible to fathom went on faster and faster until even time and space came into being. Atoms an all movements of time/space were being created from this movement from God. I saw everything that can be seen until I saw myself on a bed. I did not understand that it was me only that the person I saw was near death. In an instant all that was shown to me came crashing down on me along with my ego.


I was myself again and it was weeks later. Puss ran from my fingernails and I could not speak for days. Rapt in awe at the gift I was shown of how God and everything up to me happened. I was not myself for three months. It took me almost a year to even comprehend some of the information gathered while Dissociated from myself. The words still fail to explain what I can still see in my mind and that is a gift I doubt few have been granted. I did not find the meaning of my life only the origin of everything.

SWIM has done nitrous a few of times, but never on its own. There has always been a background of other substances, usually XTC & K. SWIM has never has such an extreme experience from nitrous

SWIM used a cream dispenser to inhale the gas and normally charged it with 4-5 bulbs at a time. That was good for quite a few people to take a toke.

The only effect noticed was the world began to judder and voices sounded different. It is also difficult to stand up and walk about. The only substance to dissasociate properly is Ketamine, with that u can chat to GOD.

Having said that the effects were not that great it should be noted that during one party with 8 people toking about 100 bulbs were used. SWIM anbd pals must have liked something about it lol.

The effects only last a very short time when compared to other substance

nitrous oxide ... you love it and you hate it.

first time swim did it was on XTC. swim didn't know what happend to him. he took the big balloon - put it to his mouth - starting inhaling and exhaling it. with each breath he took the sounds arround him got 1 extra echo to them - untill after alot of breathing the world sounded like metal klitter and klatter from a diffrent kind of universe echoing through his brain.... he opend his eyes and found himself holding a half full balloon. looking arround and wondering what the f just happend.

from that point he got used to N²o at parties but always had a sucky feeling after the first ballon came. a disccoative feeling . like when you did the first ballon - you wouldn't ever connect back to your enviroment as minutes before. the more people did it at a party - the more you felt like walking in some flashy-zombie-game...

he also did it at his brothers house. they had a big n²o tank there. for private use. they would try out diffrent methods for experiencing the n²o high. the one swim like best was when the 'traveller' got seated in the comfy chair. get on the headphones with the "beta sounds" (you know - those repeating sounds to activate the brain alpha chanllas and so) and beside the heaphones also put on the glasses with the interior lighting. small LED's giving diffrent colors at the inside of the glasses.... than the traveller would inhale a huge amount of n²o and just float of in this place of buzzing sounds and transforming colors.

the last time swim did n²o ended up that he woke up in his brothers arms - who was holding swim from falling down the stairs whit his left hand while he was holding a balloon in the other hand.

n²o is a little to fucked up swim thinks. a little to "out of this world" ... he prefers substances that make you present rather than those that get you out there.

yeah....if I thought to my own N2O experiences....holy shit.....u know these small capsulas for selfmade cream.....Took this into the bottle for the cream but without any cream...then push on the button and begin to breath in......that was kind funny......like you some echos and at the heaviest point a blackout for a few seconds.......No drug had been brought me so away like N2O...but in my opinion...the rush is to fast over......

SWIM bought a large can of wipcream went to a park took in the laughing vapors and held his breath for a good minute. the onset was sudden but what would one expect when inhaling NO2. On the exhale SWIM couldent help but laugh histerically at the lady that sold him the cream. then came the WAH WAH WAH WAH WAH WAH that lasted what seemed like forever but in realtime only about 30 sec. numbness of the mouth and fingers came after that and surprisingly laughing became painful. after extinguishing the entire can of gas SWIM began to decorate the park with the liqued cream left over. he told me that that was the most fun part. all in all it lasted about 5 min. the good happy fealing that he had fun lasted pretty much an hour before he realized he was out of weed. and was due for a drug test in 3 weeks.

swim was at a rave with swim's friend. Both got there balloon's and headed for an empty corner. While swim sat down and did his balloon swim's friend remained standing. Swim inhailed and was thrust into nos's world. As he slowly came back swims standing friend passed out and fell on swim popping what was left of his balloon. Some how swim's friend had been able, in his unconsiousness, to keep the end of his balloon tight not letting any pressious nos to escape. So swim quickly grabed the balloon from his passed out friend. When his friend awoke he was suprised to see both balloons empty.

The first time SWIM ever took the old N2O was in hospital.. early teen skate boarding broken bone...
SWIM remembers the anithisist saying "some people call it laughing gas" followed by the urge to laugh, followed by uncontrolable laughing..

two things of note occured (of note to SWIM anyway)

1. SWIMs vission was blured, yet clear in the middle (looked just like generic hospital "patients eye veiw" scene out of a movie).. mayby thats the the stress combined with the N2O?

2. on one occation SWIM looked down on what appeared to be his leg under the blanket shaped like a Z (all F#(Ked up) an went "oh well" then lol'ed. When coming down he later realised that he was looking at the folds in the blanket placed over his leg.

oh and the sound NANGNANGNANGNANGNANG hence why in aus. cream bulbs are called nangs

the next two experiences of SWIMS are even more interestion (and harder to relate), as they envlove shrooms

SWIM has been using Nitrous for about two days strait. SWIM has went through about 3 whip cream bottles. Pure lovelyness. SWIM gets a nice feeling followed by a mild hangover lasting 30 minutes to an hour (Nothing too bad SWIM just feels like burnt out and other such things). SWIM recommends this to anyone looking for a quick high nice for winding up an afternoon at work or school.
