Kratom for athletic doping?!
SWIM runs most days, and takes kratom fairly regularly (although less than he'd like to: having experienced an unpleasant opiate-like withdrawal after only a week of daily use, he is determined not to get hooked again...)
Today however, was the first time that SWIM combined the 2...and the results were pretty spectacular. SWIM can usually run 3 miles max before getting absolutely exhausted; today he went for 6 miles, and felt as though he could have gone on and done at least another 3...he only stopped because he was worried he would injure himself and he was getting hungry.
He was sweating as normal, but wasn't even out of breath, and in no pain. How can this be possible...the lack of muscle pain is explainable by kratom's analgesic effects, but the boundless energy? And the huge increase in respiratory efficiency? Can anyone shed any light?
The implications are pretty huge...given that it is legal, and does not test positive for opiates, it could easily be used by athletes to gain a huge advantage (after all, there's no rule about drinking coffee before a race).
SWIM does not compete in races, but is very much looking forward to more superhuman athletic adventures....

PS - there are guidelines for caffeine use in athletics, but it takes 1000mg to test positive (that's a lot of coffee)
