Health - Treatment of Migraine/Cluster Headaches with Psilocybin

SWIM has read an old article last night in which it is claimed the one can treat Migraine attacks with Magic Mushrooms. Basically at the onset of the symptoms - blurred vision, nausea, distinctive headache at certain part of head - one apparently takes a dose of shrooms (about 2 g) or depending of the migraine strength, a higher dose of shrooms.

When SWIM was younger he had chronic migraine up to the age of about 34 when it all stopped! (Thank god for that) Why it stopped, SWIM does not know. SWIM only used THC at that stage.

Now SWIM is befriended with someone who really suffers from migraine and was wondering if anyone else has heard of such or perhaps has even had any success with this.

Don't want to encourage SWIM to try it if it does not work or even aggravates the condition - as migraine is NO JOKE.

Yes, psilocin and its analogues are known to be an effective treatment against migraines and cluster headaches. My tree uses low doses of Psilocybe cubensis (0.3g-0.5g dried) to treat the migraine-like headaches he often suffers from.

A sensible theory of migraine which I read about is that a blood vessels dilate and constrict in an irregular manner, causing pain, and that there is also some connection between serotonin receptors and the aura/blurred vision.

Psilocin etc. are vasoconstrictors and 5-HT2A (serotonin) receptor agonists, which seems to explain why they can stop a migraine. Just remember to be careful: with any treatment there are side-effects and the possibility of it having the opposite effects to what is desired.
