THC & Tween 80 evaporation

Hey everyone.


Well, SWIM -that crazy jack-ass - is at it again.


SWIMhas come across a sample of 16mg/kg/mL Delta 9-THC which has been dissolved in Tween 80 (polysorbate 80), and then put into aqueous solution.


SWIM was wondering if anyone knew about how to evaporate tween 80 to yeild crytal, or whatever consistency, pure THC from the solution. SWIM thought about heating it slowly in a stove top fashion, but since tween 80 is an oil requiring high heat to boil (he assumes), SWIM was afraid the heat might degrade the THC if it was heated up too much.


SWIM would greatly appreciate anyone's advice.

If Tween 80 is oil, it's (probably) hard to extract the THC.


The mystery: Who put the Delta-9 into Tween 80? A high school prank?


Oh well, IF heating the solution will help break-apart the THC from the Tween, it will NOT hurt the THC much. So, go right ahead.


Hopefully, some chemistry-minded member will know the properties of Tween, so as to assist you in your THC task. All I know is that THC is an oil-base molecule, and likes to suspend itself in oil. If Tween is actually oil itself, it would seem likely that a batch of Brownies could be easily made. Then the THC will be happily suspended in the Brownies.

Hey Solid, thanks for the idea man. SWIM tried heating the stuff to no avail, so I think he's decided to attempt a batch of brownies tomorrow.


From what I understand, no H.S. prank. I believe SWIM has friends in the scientific community who gave hime the solution. SWIM is a bit of a chemist/scientist himself, but has never had any experience with anything of this sort.
