I have been reading up for the past month or 2 on people using various forms of Magnesium (of course the more bio-available the form supplemented, the better) to stunt or reduce amphetamine tolerance, and during my research the above question hit me...
(Unfortunately, the forums will not let me post links... so, yeah..)
The effects of Magnesium depletion as listed on the webpage of the Office of Dietary supplements (a GOV page) are:
Early
signs of magnesium deficiency include loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, fatigue, and weakness. As magnesium deficiency worsens, numbness, tingling, muscle contractions and cramps, seizures (sudden changes in behaviors caused by excessive electrical activity in the brain), personality changes, abnormal heart rhythms, and coronary spasms can occur [1,3-4]. Severe magnesium deficiency can result in low levels of calcium in the blood (hypocalcemia). Magnesium deficiency is also associated with low levels of potassium in the blood (hypokalemia) [1,19-20].
When you binge and stay up all night (or multiple nights) on amphetamines, or just take a more than usual amount, you may end up with things like those listed... so my question is basically, is it possible that "tolerance" of amphetamine is somehow related to the depletion of magnesium (which from what I understand, A- helps get more amphetamine in your bloodstream and B- can cause the adverse symptoms listed above)???
Maybe taking magnesium supplements with your Adderall and restoring the deficiency after a few weeks is what causes the tolerance to seemingly drop. Instead of actually dropping the tolerance, it just decreases the negative effects that started to outweigh the good effects after your magnesium was depleted.
Hopefully this makes sense the way that I'm saying it, and someone else can help me polish this theory up a little more. Thanks fellas!
