Re: First "true" poppy XP!! Tea vs. Pills? Plz Advise!
SWIM thinks he knows what ones SWIYr talking about. Round these parts, they look like extra large versions of the common corn poppy, Papaver Rhoeas. Not that he's saying that's what they are. Only the furry stems, different shaped pods (although fairly big at least - unlike rhoeas), darker leaves and (round here) red petals, basically make them look like large versions of the corn poppy.
Maybe some kind of hybrid that developed. They still 'bleed' like somnis and they're certainly a poppy of some description, but they're most definitely something else. SWIM reckons its quite likely these things cross fairly easily, as he's seem rhoeas with white and purple petals, the very year after there being a patch of somnis with that colouration nearby.
Well, whether these are the ones or not, SWIM'd like to warn others away from these too, as one of his friends had a very bad experience on them, heart racing, hearing things, insomnia etc. Didn't sound like a whole lot of fun (and didn't sound a whole lot like opium either). But at least he wasn't hospitalised.
