Health Records and addiction

Are rehabs, detoxes and suboxone placed on your medical records? Reason I am asking is because my bud is going in for surgery after being clean for years. He is afraid they wont prescribe him pain medication after the surgery if this is listed in his Med Records and the Dr reads it.

Re: Health Records and addiction

all that is in swiys medical charts, at least that how it worked with swim. he once went into the ER with a ear infection, and the doctor came in and said "with past opiate addiction i can only give swiy 8 hydrocodone" and swim told him that he was fine without anything. my guess is that swiy's bud will be prescribed less than a non addict, so he will not have a half a bottle of oxycontins laying around for a rainy day. docs are being more careful and aware of what they are prescribing, and to whom they are being prescribed to, as well they should be in my opinion. swim didn't get anything narcotic for his wisdom teeth, and had absolutely no problem handling the pain, where others are in bed for days afterward and got hydrocodone, why not give everyone the non narcotic painkillers swim got?
