Re: Treatment for Meth on East Coast (Phila/NYC)
Uh..thanks for the one reply. I do see that at least people have read SWIM's cry for help so I will provide an update to my progress. Maybe new SWIMs who need help will get something out of it. Like everyone is saying there's no magic bullet for this process. Aside from the detox it will take time for the brain to heal. For this taking fish oil along with an amino acid "multi" 3x/day between meals has been helpful. I take one from Whole Foods. The quantities for each of the amino's are much lower than the thousands of milligrams recommended on the forums yet I find they work just fine. My provigil/wellbutrin combo has probably been the most helpful (as prescribed by my psychiatrist). I have been going to the CMA meetings and "counting days"- again, which sucks- as well as going to AA, even though I do not consider myself an alcoholic. But in Philly AA is the only game in town, at least in the nice part of town. So I suck it up. I go to an IOP a few nights a week and since I'm not working I volunteer in the am's at a massive food kitchen-type place in the city. Keeps me busy and not focused on myself and my problems. I've also been getting back to the gym so I don't get too fat- thats important. Who wants to add looking like shit to feeling like shit? Despite the gym weight gain does seem inevitable, cereal is calling my name every second. SWIM has 11 days clean from methamphetamine today. It's not 11 months, but it's good. Feels ok.
