60-70 bpm's is very fine. I believe hypertension rulings start at 80 BPMs, with the extreme being >115-120. Ambien would have mellowed his BP out, so hypertension should not be an issue.
Btw, Benzos and amphetamines are an interesting combination; while not being too dangerous if used respectfully. Many would not like the combined effects of uppage and downage. This swimmer partied with xanax and methylphenidate, interesting experience.

On swim's 6th time using adderall, he took 50mg (every other time was about 30mg), smoked weed, and then (stupidly) went on a 4 mile run. His heart rate went up to
210 at the max, he decided to stop running right then, and yes, he is sure that is accurate. More disturbingly (to him), he is a ex-track and field runner, good shape, athletic, resting heart rate of 66 and bp is normal. It took him a good 2 days before his heart returned to normal, he has no idea why that happened. He didn't have a panic attack, as he stayed (relatively) calm, and the insanely high HR lasted for a few hours before maintaining at about 120bpm for the next 12 hrs. He is fine now, though.
