Re: Off the methadone and scared....

This makes me angry!!! I was spitting nails when I read your post. I hate it that the government gives people the power of dispensing methadone, who know absolutely jack shit about it. Sorry for the hostility. Most d-f members know i8myc doesn't get angry very often, but this is crap! I feel so bad for you. The one thing I hate the most is when someone who is sincere in changing their life and making posative decisions to get off drugs, gets kicked when their down. Anyone who knows anything about drugs knows that a drug user is most vulnerable in the first 2-4 weeks. And when a user is in that time period of abstinance, they(the consoler) are supposed to do nothing to provoke use.

Which includes

Bringing up painfull discussions during consoling sessions
Talking about drugs with the user
Cutting their methadone back for no reason

They are supposed to work with the user, not against them, especially for the first month, or until a stable dose is achieved. I guess we have "standard of care" to blame for this situation...uggghhhh

Okay, mine and swims rant is over. Swim says that the clonazepam will definatly help, make sure swiy takes it at the right intervals. Dont give the anxiety a chance to build up. Swiy will feel restless, maybe a lil pain, depending on how long she used, anxiety, and she will probobly have restless legs when in bed. But it will go away, and even small amounts of methadone take some time to leave the body, but when it does, swiy will start to really notice. After two weeks or so off of it, swiy will go through a couple of days where she will notice her symptoms drastically improve, it happens fast when it starts to clear the system. So swiy will just wake up one morning and notice how better she feels, and then even better the next morning, even when she felt like crap two days before. Methadone is very wierd like this when coming off of it. If swiy can stay utta the pool", and keep dry for a few days more, she will start feeling better. I hope swiy makes it. Swim knows how hard it is, because he was on 185mg of methadone for about a year. Take care
