There is a new swimmer among you. Swim has been doing some research after a long time away from poppies, and back then it was fresh scrapings.

swim is new at PT and dried pods. swim has made CFO successfully, and a product that can be vaporized (smoked). But swim is not yet satisfied with the potency, so is curious abuot some things.

Swim likes CFO and the fact that it is a water extration.

Iceolation works well to a point, then the concentrate freezes uniformlly and does not appear to get any more concentrated. (swim's opinion is iceolation concentrates morphine alkaloids more then any other).
Swims opinion of using melted parraffin wax to defat is not good.

Swim has some questions. Swim has access to tolulene, xylene and methylene chloride, and was wondering if shaking filtered PT with especially methylene chloride would filter and defat the tea. Being that methylene chloride is heavier then water, most solids would sink to botom or middle emulsion layer and those with the fats that the MC would pick up could be seperated and discarded, leaving a tea that iceolation should be able to concentrate more?? Any swiys have any thoughts on this?

Another thing, swim was wondering about, since he wants to concentrate his tea more before evap. and was wondering if really good filtering of the water based tea would do much to help? swim was thinking if the tea was passed through hi quality multi step wine filters if the evaped final product would be much more concentrated?? Then iceolate that filtered tea before evap?? Those hi quality filters can apprently even filter out color and yeast enzymes that are smaller then .3 -.4 micron??? That really really small. Any swiys have any coments on this??

Swim is obviously trying to get the highest potency in a finished smokeable (vaporized) product and knows this research will be great when applied to fresh pod scrappings in the future.

Swim doesn't really want to make morphine, as desires the effect of more alkaloids. But does know that water based and alcohol based extractions take out different alkaloids, with some alkaloids coming out in both

Swim also wants to try making CFO with 99.9% methanol ? Swim read methanol is the best alcohol to use and has experieance with dangerous solvents and compounds.

Does any swiy know the ph of methanol, as swim read that heated methanol with ph adjusted to 9 would be most efficient at alkaloid extraction?? But before evaping the methanol, perhaps really good filtering would help concentrating the final product? As iceolation won't work with methanol, and swim does not not know if defatting methanol tea with methylene chloride, tolulene or xylene would work or would loose desired alkaloids to any of these solvents??

Swim would like to have comments and suggestions from other swimmers!!

Swim has searched some, but could not find answers, and knows the experieanced learnered swimers on his board will help.
