Opinions - New to Adderall, advice

SWIM has heard of adderall and its use before. SWIM got a hold of 1 tab possibly 20-30mg Cor 136(pink pill). SWIM plans to cut 4 ways and start with low dose. SWIM is looking to use as a study aide, would like some general advice from users that have more experience in its use as a study aide.

SWIM has also read in a few forums that the Cor 136(pink pill) are crap...what do you all suggest?

Noticed this is SWIY's first post, welcome to DF! Also, thanks for actually searching to see what the pill was before posting here. We used to get a lot of requests from newbies asking to have a pill identified. This is no longer allowed here, so its great to see people that do a bit of their own research first. Much appreciated!

Since SWIY didn't request a pill ID, but said what his research has suggested it to be, my hamster can at least give a hypothetical confirmation. My hamster's daydreams suggest that SWIY is correct in thinking the pill is Adderall (or rather, a generic version with the same ingredients), with a dosage of 30mg. SWIY can confirm this easily as the data is available from multiple reliable pill ID sites.

So thats 30mg to make use of for SWIY's studies. Based on SWIY's post, my hamster would guess that he has never used Adderall (or any other amphetamine) before. If that is the case, then starting with a low dose is a good call. Recommending a "study dose" of Adderall that would be the minimum effective dose is tough because there are so many variables. If SWIY were to break the tablet in half he would end up with two pieces, each containing 15mg. However, 15mg might be a bit high as a first dose for someone. Safety first! Never know if SWIY might have an unusual sensitivity to amphetamine.

My hamster says that the best bet would be to do as SWIY's original post mentioned, break the tablet into four pieces (try to make sure they are as even as possible). This would give SWIY four pieces, each containing 7.5mg. Try taking a single 7.5mg dose, then sit down and start studying. The amount of time it takes for it to kick in varies based on a few factors, but between 20 and 45 minutes is the average. This is the important part! At a single dose of 7.5mg, SWIY probably won't get a whole lot of euphoria, and might not notice any at all. However, the concentration and energy boosting effects of Adderall may still be there even if SWIY doesn't feel any euphoria. So instead of using euphoria as a marker of whether or not the Adderall is working, try to pay attention to SWIY's work. If he finds himself studying more diligently, less tired or overall less bored with the whole situation, the dose is probably doing its job.

If after an hour and a half or two hours, SWIY feels nothing and the dose fails to have any effect on his studying, it would be up to him whether or not to take another 7.5mg at this point. Just be aware that the first dose would still be in his system. So talking a second dose of 7.5mg may combine to produce a stronger effect, which can be good or bad depending on SWIY's individual response to amphetamine. If it comes down to it, just make sure that SWIY doesn't arrive at the decision to take a second dose too quickly, and be smart about it. My hamster wouldn't recommend taking a third dose during that same day even if the second dose still doesn't produce the effects he was looking for. Hopefully my hamster's post makes sense. Be careful and good luck with SWIY's study session(s)! Feel free to ask if my hamster has left something out.

As for the quality of the brand SWIY mentioned, my hamster doesn't recall any specific problems with them. As far as my hamster knows, they are just one of the many generic versions of Adderall. In fact, he remembers taking many of these exact pills right before he quit using Adderall. He didn't notice any significant difference. Although its possible he was pushing borderline amphetamine psychosis at the time due to heavy daily doses . But, unless the manufacturer was caught making "ripoff" generics or something, hamster doesn't think this is the case unless he is mistaken. Can SWIY give some more details on the reasons people were giving for them being crap?

SWIM has used meth before(10yrs ago), only once. SWIM react well to stims lke "fat burner" (i.e xenadrine, cytolean/v2 and mitotropin). SWIM has occasionally smoke MJ but nothing abusive, once every so often, haven't smoked any in months. SWIM plans on only using "as needed" mainly for studying. SWIM has always been in control when trying new things and has never done "Hard" drugs.

SWIM also like to know how to dose on thse substance for study purposes only. SWIM agree with starting low and will do so. SWIM would like to keep dosage at a "reasonable" level, whatever that maybe. SWIM see's posts on people taking 60+mg, is this because of increased tolerance? SWIM only needs it for studying and nothing more. SWIM does not want to keep increasing dosage(i.e heroin, etc...). SWIM would like to know from the users that use adderall as a study aide if they retain anything they studied for and how much.

Also SWIM would like to know what to expect when "coming down" even at a low dose. SWIM knows that not everyone is the same, and would like some general guidelines on what to expect while he is on(low dose) and coming off.

Well adderall is meant to be taken orally (this is how the manufacture intended) but it is also frequently taken by insuffaltion (snorting) and occasionally rectally. Bioavailability (how well the drug is absorbed) is lowest orally, one reason why the drug is frequently taken by different routes. Adderall also tends to be more euphoric when snorted/ IVd/ taken rectally although with oral use the drug will last longer (except maybe IV, but SWIM isn't sure and doesn't recommend this for a first timer). So... to answer your question, oral is a good way to go if the goal is studying.

Many people take high doses (60mg and up) because there is much more euphoria and more of a "rush" with a high dose. SWIM has used adderall many many times for studying and only several times recreationally (at a high dose). SWIM started out taking just 5mg of dextroamphetamine orally for studying and this worked very well for him. However, after some time he felt the need to increase to 10mg, so tolerance does increase, but much slower than opiates like heroin (at least for SWIM).

ha ha... good question. SWIM would often be studying on adderall and read a page, only to realize he didn't remember anything he had just read. Sometimes the mind will race a little too much and make studying somewhat difficult. SWIM has found a small amount of weed will relax his mind, allowing him to focus on studying.

Additionally, although SWIM doesn't know if it's just coincidence or the adderall, when SWIM studies for a test or writes a paper on adderall, the whole time he's thinking "oh shit, I am not going to pass this test/this paper," although when it's time to take the test it feels like the answers just flow out of him, and he usually does pretty well.

Coming down has never been that painful for SWIM, especially at a low dose. Most of the time he'll just feel a little tired. In fact, he didn't start dreading coming down until he read more about adderall and learned many people hate the comedown. SWIM believes unless SWIY has gone a long time without sleeping and eating and has been redosing, the comedown is psychological more than anything.

On another note, it's great that SWIY feels like he has always been in control, but with amphetamines the addiction seems to sneak up on people. So SWIY may be taking adderall once a week to study, then twice a week, then more and more until SWIY relies on adderall to get any work at all done. Don't be fooled by other people's experience reports of continually redosing. Looking at some user's dosage levels and extent of use, it's easy to justify taking more and more until SWIY has a full-blown amphetamine addiction. So be safe and get some studying done.
