Lsd After effects: Visual Distortions

I am a new member on this forum, I joined in the hope that someone with knowledge of occurences like this can help me.

I am seventeen years of age. I am healthy, not over weight and have no illnesses or diseases. My vision is fine (I used to wear glasses when I was much much younger, but not longer need them)

I have taken Lsd twice, both have been great trips (The first was a group trip with my mates, the second was a solo)

The second trip is the one I'm worried about. I dropped this acid in my apartment by myself after my dealer told me it was a "new batch", which sort of got me thinking if it was okay. It was noticeably weaker than the first time I bought off of him. anyway, it's been about a month now and everytime I go to bed, or turn off the light to try and sleep. The same old distortion of shapes, bending, twisting of objects and my surroundings begins to happen. I close my eyes and I see vivid imagery, not to the extent as when I've dropped, but still enough to deprive me of sleep.

I've tried changing rooms. didn't work.

it's every night without fail.

Should I see a doctor? I've told my parents I dropped lsd, and they were fine with it. I haven't told them about the trouble I've been having lately because of it though.

Is it permanent? or will it pass?

Any help is appreciated.

Many Thanks,

Harry.

Re: Lsd After effects

This sounds like Hallucinogen persisting perception disorder - HPPD. This is characterised by lingering distortions in vision after taking a hallucinogen (although it can occur without that).

Do these distortions occur only when you go to bed? Are they only visible with the light off? If so, they may just be closed eye visuals. Peoples susceptibility to see closed eye visuals can be greatly increased after taking psychedelics which help train the mind to see them. The mind can be trained to see them with or without drug use so it is unclear, as you can see, whether this increased ability to perceive closed eye visuals is due to the drugs helping the mind train or if it is just slight HPPD or both.

This happened to SWIM too but after a strong dose of cannabis. It has been more than 14months but its getting better.

Re: Lsd After effects

Interestingly swim suffered from this a few weeks back, swim knows the feeling of not sleeping and just being restless all night. Swim still has very mild visuals when he closes his eyes before bed. Swim just took sleeping pills (anti-histamines) for a week or two and this help him sleep. Now swim is having no problem at all, and enjoys the visuals when they come along.

candy_flipping added 1 Minutes and 56 Seconds later...

Quick question could the insomnia be due to the 5-ht 2A antagonism?
