NZ Party pill retailers once again under the spotlight with Spice / Dream ban

A new entry has been added to File Archive

Description:
Party pill retailers are under the spotlight again, this time for a product that replicates the effects of cannabis.
The Government has announced testing of products Spice and Dream has revealed they contain a substance similar to the active ingredient in cannabis, and that makes them a Class-C controlled drug.
"It's surprising the minister has moved quickly on this," Ross Bell from the NZ Drug Foundation says. "We did know the Ministry of Health were beginning to look at this issue and in fact we've been saying for a long time that it's unfortunate there were no controls over this product."
It appears that the ministry was only acting on the advice of their German counterparts who were the first to test this particular product.
The Government is currently reviewing the Misuse of Drugs Act.
