Nitrous use after Opiates
SWIM has been around drugs most of his life. Opiates have always been the holy grail and addictions have been battled.
Over the years, SWIM tried nitrous and liked it but it was nothing big. I had no problem walking away from them. In fact, last year, I bought a case just b/c a friend wanted to get rid of them and over the year I did a grand total of 20 Whippits the whole time.
This December, I went C/T removing a very large opiate primate off of my back (thank God for Kratom). I was sick for a few days but have a flexible job and was able to just bite the bullet. Toward the end of the W/D, I went in and used some of the whippets mentioned in the previous paragraph. I found them immensely enjoyable. So I started doign them more and more and before long, found myself doing two boxes in a day at times.
Since then, I've really started using them very heavily (I'm very aware of the B12 issue and to the extent I can, have been 'safe' about it). But it's starting to take over my life and I'm running myself broke doing them. I think about them all the time and b/c there's a shop around the corner from my office, I can sneak out and grab them in not time.
The money is starting to get really ridiculous b/c they are pricey. The affinity I have for them now is really strong and it's discomforting. At first I thought I was essentially 'trading addictions' in the psychological sense... after all, I've been around these for years and never had this affinity for them. Then I started researching them and realized they affect many of the same receptors that opiates hit. It stated to click.
The real telling thing was w/ the Kratom though. If I take a large dose of Kratom before using the Whippets, the effect is dramatically minized. In fact, last week I felt like 'nothing was happening' w/ the nitrous after taking a large dose of Kratom. I've done this drill enough that I'm confident it's not the placebo effect.
Nitrous isn't physically addictive but damn, psychologically, I get an itch for it and it's stronger than anything I can remember with opiates.
Has anyone else experienced this? I simply can't keep spending the money on these things so I need to quit - does anyone have any suggestions on how to quit?
TIA!
