Purity - Ketamine Purification

SWIM has managed to get his hands on some Ketamine but is unsure of the purity and so was hoping to clean it up some before using it. Looking around here SWIM has seen a few ideas based on disolving in water, filtering and washing with a non-polar solvent.
SWIM was hoping to go a little further after the above cleaning and freebase the ket with NaOH (or some other base if that one is not suitable) extract it into a non-polar solvent, Acidify it and extract it back into water or some other polar solvent before evaporating the solvent to leave the powder.
SWIM was wondering if anyone who had more practical experience with Ketamine knew of any reasons why this wouldn't work as this is the first time SWIM has got enough ketamine for this sort of cleaning to be worth it.
