Combinations - Mixing Oxycodone and Codeine

So SWIM, thanks to a ready and below-market-value supply of Oxycodone Continuous release 20's (brand name OxyContin), has gone from a chipper to an out-and-out junkie. The transition took about a year between chipping on lazy Saturdays, to starting Friday night and staying bombed all through Saturday, to dosing once or twice during the week, to ingesting between 50 and 80mgs every day for weeks at a time. Sure enough, full-blown addiction. Fever, chills, constant nasal drip, the whole bit.

Anyway, SWIM decided that enough was enough - that a couple of weeks off was necessary for preservation of life and job. So he gathered what supply he had left and weaned himself off to the point today where he is clean, and will try again on a lazy weekend to see how things go.

Last night was his last day for weaning. His stash was down to 5mg of Oxyocode/500 APAP and two Tylenol and 30 mg Codeine. Remember, this is a guy who could snort 30mg of Oxy and not get high - but 5mg of oxy and 60 of codeine not only got him high, but it was a lovely, creamy sort of high that he hadn't experienced since the Vicodin days...not too intense, but drowsy, happy, swimming through whipped cream sort of high. Dee-lightful, says he.

SO... his question is this: Does anyone else get this from mixing these two related opiates? Is this something that is repeatable, or does it wear off with use?

Also, please let him pass on this caution: one has heard it said on this forum by someone who one can't remember, that opiates make a great lover but a horrible mistress. Please- exercize discretion when playing with opiates, because one day you'll turn around and realize that they are now playing with you. Trust SWIM, it can happen to anyone.
