So me and my typist were out expanding our shared consciousness last Saturday night and we ended up at a local psy night. We don't usually go for psytrance, we usually prefer darker, grimier nights, but psy nights always take some beating in terms of atmosphere and availability of chems (for the typist), plus it was an oppertunity to hang out with some people we hadn't seen for a while.
Anyway, it turns out that this night (Psycle in Nottingham) was part of something called the
Earthdance Prayer for Peace (that site seems to be about last year's prayer) - at midnight they stopped all of the music for 5 minutes or so and linked up with 250 or so other dancefloors across the world(!!) for a global "prayer for peace" (didn't catch the words to the prayer itself, but it involved some mad djembe playing). Pretty cool, being in a hot, sweaty club, off our faces, experiencing the same atmosphere as 250 other floors around the world.
(The cynic within me wants to point out that world peace has yet to be achived, though)
Did anyone else happen to encounter this on Saturday night? I suppose there's a small chance if it truly was a worldwide project...
