Two attempts at smoking 5-MeO-DMT in a light bulb
My pet gorilla does not have much experience taking anything smoke-like into his lungs. He's had a few joints in his lifetime, and he has tried smoking some obscure herbs, but nothing beyond that. Vaporization is something he has only known by name, until he one day took a look at the theory and found it all very simple and straight-forward. Having some 5-MeO-DMT at hand, he decided to try to vaporize it in a light bulb and inhale.
He made several attempts at vaporizing and inhaling small amounts of 5-MeO-DMT on two different evenings. The total amount that went into the light bulb is uknown, but it may have been up two or around 30 mg. At the time of writing, his light bulb is basically full of black or brownish spots at all the places in the light bulb where he has tried to vaporize the chemical powder. He is wondering if these spots (some of them appear to be quite volumous) are the remains of the process of vaporization, like ash in the case of smoking, or if they are merely burned and thus wasted chemical powder.
What he has done and what has happened is this:
First he would put the brownish chemical matter in the lightbulb, and then put the cap on (with one big and one small hole). He would then hold a candle at about at an inch's distance from the bulb. After a few seconds (or it can be quite a few), he would see the chemical start to liquify and change into a very redish color. Very soon he would see vapor raising. At this point he would start sucking it out, keeping the candle under the bulb (as well as he can; it's quite hard to coordinate). The smoke tastes like plastic, like reported, but even though the gorilla does not have a strong pair of lungs, he doesn't think the smoke is harsh. Virtually no chance of coughing, he says. After some time the process of vaporization will stop, and there will be the blackish/brownish remains as described earlier, stuck to the inside of the glass.
He would put some more powder, maybe 4-10 mg, and try to do a few things slightly differently (like keeping the flame further away), with pretty much the same results.
Both evenings he got a very comfortable and very psychedelic effect, but it was nowhere like as intense at he has seen it descibed on Erowid. He was always entirely present in the real world, although the drug rendered it quite differently, in a good way (but almost no visual or auditory effects were noticed).
Please note that my gorilla does not trust his scale in the sub 10 mg range, and that the actual amounts may differ greatly.
What he wants to know, is if there should be any remains of the powder, and if there shouldn't, what he could be doing wrong. Or does he simply need more powder?
