Drugs plagued Pete Doherty given 14 weeks prison for breaching probation
![]() A new entry has been added to Drugs Archive Description: 2 mins 9 April 2008 TV3 News NZ Babyshambles front-man Pete Doherty was jailed today for 14 weeks for violating a probation order, according to his record company. Doherty's supervision order required the singer to make regular appearances to court for progress reports, as well as taking part in drug rehabilitation programmes. Parlophone Records did not say how Doherty broke his probation. But music magazine NME cited a court spokesman as saying Doherty had used different kinds of drugs, breached "time keeping," and generally not complied with his probation. The sentence means Doherty has had to postpone an appearance at the Royal Albert Hall in London on 26th April. A statement from Parlophone Records said: "Today, Peter Doherty was sentenced to a total of 14 weeks in jail for being in breach of his probation order. Unfortunately Peter has had to postpone his show at the Royal Albert Hall on April 26. The show is due to be rescheduled and all tickets will be valid for the new date once it has been announced. Peter was very much looking forward to the show and would like to offer his sincerest apologies to all his fans and to all those concerned." Doherty's drug use has frequently landed him in court. Last year he pleaded guilty to possession of crack cocaine, heroin, ketamine and cannabis and a variety of driving offences. He is best known as the ex-boyfriend of model Kate Moss.
