Father pleads guilty in overdose death of infant daughter

DERBY, Conn.—A former Ansonia man has pleaded guilty to criminal charges related to the death of his 7-month-old daughter, who died of an overdose of cocaine and cold medicine three years ago.Forty-two-year-old Steven Bobbins pleaded guilty in Derby Superior Court to risk of injury to a minor and possession of drug paraphernalia, charges that carry more than 10 years in prison. Sentencing is set for June 5.
Similar charges against the child's mother, Lois Tremblay, are pending. She is free on bail and her next court appearance is April 23.
Bobbins and Tremblay had moved to Bridgeport before their arrests.
A public defender representing Bobbins declined to comment on the guilty pleas.
The death of Brianna Bobbins was ruled an accident. Authorities say the cocaine got into her system from second-hand smoke and the parents were giving her the cold medicine.

Terribly sad. This is the second article I've found today that involved an accidental drug overdose of a child caused by their guardian. Disgusting.
