Swim has just tried phenibut for the first time and has two experiences to report.
1st experience
--------------------------------------------------------
Took 5.5 grams on an empty stomach. Mixed in with some beer in a cup and drank the stuff. It tasted horribly horribly salty. Swim felt like he was drinking body fluids or something. This was taken at about 9:30. He tried to snort a little bit, but the burning was pretty much the worst thing he has ever tried to snort with maybe the exception of cigarette ash. So he gave up on this route.
Ate some Chinese food and drank a few more beers. The night swim spent hanging out with his roommates. He felt much more drunk than he normally would have off of the 4 or so beers he drank. He also felt pretty silly. He seemed more talkative than normal and just wanted to hang out and bother his friends, who were doing work and getting kind of annoyed, but he kept laughing at his ability to distract them.
One thing that kind of hit him hard after standing up for the first time after the phenibut seemed to kick in was how much "drunker" his body seemed than his mind. He was stumbling around, while his mind was still pretty lucid. The phenibut was first noticed at 10:15, and seemed to hit high gear around 11:30. At 12:30 he and roommate A decided to get a birthday cake for roommate B, at the grocery store and the walk there swim was talkative and loud and fairly uninhibited. At the grocery store he seemed somewhat social with people he didn't know, and the topics of conversation he talked about seemed more like things he liked to talk about while on psychedelics rather than alcohol. This isn't to say that the experience was psychedelic at all, perception was much more of a "depressant" feel, but mood and conversation reminded him of maybe a light ecstasy roll or a particularly upbeat alcohol experience.
After returning home he ate some cake and kicked it with his roommates for a bit, and watched some TV with them. At about 1:30 he had the uncontrollable urge to smoke some pot. Like, he really really wanted to smoke. He can't figure out if this was because of the phenibut or if he was just bored and too intoxicated to do anything productive. One bowl was smoked and he did some whippets. The marijuana and nitrous highs seemed more powerful than normal, but qualitatively didn't seem that much different. Nitrous seemed a little "dumber," not sure if thats the right adjective, but on one nitrous trip swim felt like a reptile, with only a brain stem and no neocortex.
Swim woke up the next day with the lights on, the TV blasting and in bed with all his clothes on at about 9 am. Swim also was incredibly thirsty, but didn't feel hungover at all. He got up, turned of all that shit and went back to bed. He didn't wake up until 3 pm. Holy shit. Normally if he sleeps late he kind of wakes up, looks at the clock, goes back to sleep. Not this time, he slept straight through. He felt kind of high still for a couple of hours, but none of that famous phenibut hangover at all, he was still very productive for the few hours of day that he had to get shit done.
Overall retrospect: Swim was pretty underwhelmed with this drug. He took what has been described as a fairly high dose. It was definitely a pretty high body high, and it certainly seemed to have a bit of anti-anxiety effects. But he just didn't feel that "fucked up," certainly nothing like a good drunk. Unfortunately he doesn't have the experience to compare to GHB, but swim has to imagine this stuff is a good bit weaker. It may be a lot like benzos, where one feels a lot less intoxicated than they actually are. Based on his coordination swim definitely wouldn't have trusted himself to drive a car. His sleep felt great though.
