Help me identify this drug

A friend of mine continues to go to another of her friends houses, comes back with a little dark ball of some substance, puts the ball in a little plastic bottle, adds hot water to the bottle and mixes it up. Then she sucks some of the liquid into a needleless syringe, and pumps it up her nose.
Well, dark ball?... and she refers to it as brown?... My first guess would be that this is heroin?
There are only two reason that make me wonder if it may be something else:
- first, this little ball seemed a little harder than I would have imagined tar heroin being. It is plyable, but not as plyable as I would have thought it to be. I always thought tar heroin was softer than this stuff was.
- Second is, I know heroin reduces to morphine when it's exposed to water, so that seems like a waste of heroin to mix it with water right?

Anyway, I'm just trying to figure out what this stuff is because she tells me she doesn't know for sure. A long time ago she said it was some mixture of drugs that her friends dad makes, using oxycontin and some other stuff, but I'm thinking that she just doesn't want to admit to heroin use lol.

Does anyone know of any other drugs that are used in this method that this stuff may be? or is this a common method of using heroin?
